Just a thought to add...
My best friend is gorgeous... the kind of girl that everyone looks at when she walks into a room. She's also nice, smart, and funny, but her looks get her a great deal of attention. I admire her a lot for the person that she is, but I would never trade places with her. I know that most people (girls especially) look at her and think "wow, she's so lucky she has everything" and a lot of them are really mean and spiteful out of jealousy toward her. I am one of the few female friends she's ever had who hasn't backstabbed her. But because I've known her for a while, I know that her childhood was not very good and that she's suffered some deep emotional scars from it. I also know that most of the hot guys who have the courage to talk to her turn out to be complete jerks. She has suffered a great deal, partly because of her looks.

What I'm trying to say here is, remember that although Gwen is musically talented, pretty, and married someone she seems to have good chemistry with, she still has her problems. She gets ingrown hairs and diarrhea just like anyone else. She might have other problems that are much harder to see as well. The point is that you never know what "the beautiful people" are really like 100%. They are just as imperfect (and sometimes moreso) than you and me. Don't put her on such a high pedestal... living a normal life can be just as challenging and rewarding as being in the limelight. Find something that you love and do it the best you can. We all have something to offer, and just because your destiny might not be singing in a ska band, there are a million other ways you can contribute to the world around you.

Thanks guys. I had a long chat with my mum today and she has told me that she is glad I am finally doing something about it as she knew herself I was destroying myself over it. I have decided to try my very best to find out who I really am and see where life takes me.

that sounds great !! becasue you are good enough and worth it. you are the only you on the planet and whether you get praise for it or not you are still unique and special simply becasue u exist. you have nothing to live up to except your own self acceptance, respect and care. enjoy the journey, have the courage to trust yourself and you will be fine......

Hi BlondieND,
Good for you for confronting this! I know it's not easy, but you're being very brave. You deserve to be happy, and someday you're going to realize that you are good enough just as you are.
I can identify with what you're going through... I, too, become obsessed with my favorite celebrities, and it's really taken its toll on my self-esteem. I feel ugly and talentless compared to them, and I can't seem to stop comparing myself to them, as well as other skinnier and prettier women around me. I, too, am working towards feeling better about myself, though, and I believe that if we work hard we both can overcome our low self-esteem.
I wish you the best of luck! Take care, and keep us updated!

Thanks so much for your support guys. So far, its been almost a week and I have not even checked up this celeb on the net, now that is a world record for me. I want to keep it that way, sometimes its best not to know certain things. I want to get her out of my head. I am also thinking about going a different colour, brunette maybe, just so I can escape the image that I created because of some stranger and find out who 'I' am. Discovery is a journey and its such a lovely comforting feeling to have people behind me, you guys have helped me a lot and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
