Is there a way to get rid of it for good or do you have to do treatment everyday?

Treatment daily will help through the months of Sept-April of every year.
I struggle with S.A.D as well and have a lightbox, plus meds to help with my depression.
Even sitting by a sunny window when it starts to snow will help as well.
No I don't think you can get rid of SAD for good. I have dealt with it for 9 yrs and still am every year. Mind you some yrs are I don't feel so bad. So far I am doing ok weather wise. The only thing I am noticing is the lack of motivation and I'm tired more.
Therapy will help... but as far as I know it something that you can't get rid of for good, especially if you've suffered with it year after year.

it does suck, but so does having regular depression (which I have) or BPD, anxiety, dementia etc etc etc.... any disorder is never fun....
But at least there is treatment.
I think that depending what causes the depression it can in some cases go away. Don't think that mine will however...
But that's ok.

no no it's nothing like the lights at all in tanning salons.
They are made for people that suffer from SAD. It's a light that shines down on you (well suppose to) and as long as it's hitting anywhere directly on the eye (even if it's a corner of one eye) it's like sitting out in the sun, but without the UV. You're suppose to sit in front of it for 30 minutes everyday- close to it, and earlier the better, and it helps your mood. Everyone loves sitting out in the sun, same thing, but like I said no UV etc. Extremely bright. Works wonders.
You can look up lightboxes, but some of them I wouldn't purchase because some of them are really tiny and don't look like they'd work too well. A doctor could reccomend a good one if you were in need of it.

That's pretty cool, I've never heard of them. We briefly discussed SAD in my intro psych course but I dont remember anything about helping cure it or whatever.
Nah, luckily I dont have SAD. I actually like fall and winter better lol, the shorter days suck but the weather is so much better
