Hi,
Schizotypal personality disorder has amongst its symptoms eccentric and odd appearance. I am a bit unclear about it. Can fellow sufferers share what's odd about their appearance?
The things odd about me which I can find is that I am not smart in appearance (maybe I look geeky), I behave a bit childish, I am stiff, and maybe I behave a little bit retarded. But all these I feel is because of my massive social anxiety. Social anxiety is another symptom of this disorder I believe. So I wonder whether odd appearance and social anxiety are thus related or are independent symptoms.
So please share what's odd about your appearance.
Take care.

I guess I wouldn't say I'm very smart about my appearance either. I wear what's comfortable, simple, and versatile. A lot of my clothes are a solid color. I'm not really looking for others' approval. But when I was younger, I'd mismatch my clothes (stripes and plaid or polka dots) and my mom would make me change.
I have a hard time describing my appearance because I think I look a bit different every time I look in the mirror. I've been told that it's hard to place me anywhere.. I space out a lot.

I often stare into space, wear threadbare clothes with stains and holes and fluoro shirts. I don't see how odd appearance should be a symptom of schizotypal personality disorder though.

I think it is just discrimination against goths and grunge types. Maybe a high percentage of Typals listen to a certain music. I dress normal now. Black and sombre. Meanwhile I'm secretly the fisher king/antichrist/devil/messiah/santa claus. I am also possessed by ultra dimensional entites who tell me the future. Not much happens in the future, btw.

How you appear is incidental if you have SPD. You might look totally crazy, or you might look like a regular person; depending on the degree to which SPD affects your innate individualism.

i dress smart all the time, o often wear shirts with waistcaots and smart trousers and a jacket but i wear them with converse, i know people think thats eccentric, i have walked with a cane before and wore a bowlers hat , im a girl aswell and i often buy shirts from mens shops and jackets because they have pocketes in the inside of them.
so yeah thats me.
The tears that trickle down at one time, are as unmeaning as the loud laugh which succeeds them
