Early signs of relapse?

Postby a14n1 » Sat Aug 25, 2012 12:06 pm

What are your experiences with the early signs of relapse in psychosis or schizophrenia?

I have a loved one who was being treated for psychosis and came off his meds a few months ago. Now he's showing signs that could best be described as hypomanic (more energetic, not sleeping, impulsive decisions, lack of empathy, lack of insight, increased ego, restlessness, grandiose thinking, memory problems), and from what I've read about the prodromal stage of psychosis these could be the early warning signs of a relapse. Is this true?

well it could be the brain trying to regulate itself after multiple antagonisms.

i got like that, but didnt relapse.

you can try nutritional supplements, ashwaganda, lions mane to calm him down.

How long did those symptoms last for you?

He's been off the meds for several months now and the symptoms have been steadily growing since then. Now he's at a stage where he's like a completely different person and pushing his loved ones away.

Did your episode end suddenly, like a crash into depression, or did things just slowly regulate themselves once your brain was used to being off the meds?

well it is possible to catch schizophrenia before it induces the break.

one of the main mechanisms would be to slow down the malformed CREB push while retaining cell upkeep including myelination.

cause once the dopaminergic pathway shifts, the insulation becomes damaged and neuroinflammation happens then that is when positive symptoms appear.

the basic things would be nutrition

stop all drugs and caffeine usage.

and take calming type supplements

alpha-lipoic acid
ashwaganda/lions mane
magnesium-l-threonate
citrus bioflavinoids
niacinamide
multivitamin
DHA

except maybe add n-methylglyicine
