I haven't owned a mobile phone in almost 2 years and I enjoy not having one.

People call my landline if they would like to chat and I don't have to worry about minutes or data usage. I don't have to worry about my child getting her hands on a mobile and racking up all kinds of usage fees or accidentally calling the police over (and she has done this before with someone else's "smart" phone).

I never liked texting because it takes away the full communication experience. It's hard to tell a person's mood by reading text alone; at least when you're speaking with them you can hear their tone of voice and hesitations.

Then, of course, I simply do not enjoy knowing the lack of privacy cell phones carry. You don't have to be paranoid to appreciate that the capacity to be spied on is of real concern.
Blame it on me, but know that I won't regret one iota.

ok I understand ur point of view

but I feel some people do it to runaway from problems or something of that nature but I mean it is what it is everyone with their style but you cant claim Im the one hard to find when ur are the one not owing a cellular phone I know their are many more than one reason people do this but I really hate it when people do it to isolate themselves from the rest of the world and yeah if u have a phone and u dont even pick it up is even worse

That's an extremely recent point of view. 20 years ago people didn't walk around with their phones always in their hand or in their pocket all the time. It's ridiculous how attached we've become to them. They are not necessary to survival.

I also don't have a car, so guess I'm a weirdo ;) Everything is within walking distance where I am.

It's all a matter of personal preference. I know some people who can't do without modern conveniences. I prefer to do without. Not to try and isolate myself, but because I find it healthier and less stressful.

No car? No cell phone? And everything's close by? You're living my dream life, ladyswan.

Small town with a slow pace of life. This is the type of environment I need to stay mentally healthy. It does get rather boring at times but it sure beats being annoyed & aggravated all the time because of the constant stimuli found in cities.

I have a crap car and cancelled my cell phone. Cells seem pointless for people not going long distance where there is a risk of breaking down in a desert or snow storm, although cells are always definite back up.
I don't text and I think at the rate I get to IMing, foruming, and emailing it is probably cheaper for me to communicate by internet. I'm generally at home so it makes sense.

It isn't that common to need a cell at a grocery store so I don't really see much of a point in that full time phone bill for two minutes at Target. Watches work well for meeting up too.

Also, it doesn't seem cooler to me to do something like have a phone just because the billions of bots that can afford the phone receive their in factor message of "I want a cell phone." I think they are the weird, and annoying, ones.
Nothing appropriate comes to mind.
