Feeling better

Postby DarkMind » Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:55 pm

Hello,
At the age of 22 I was diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia. I had very strange delusions of persecution. Needless to say it was a very frightening time.

I was committed to a psychiatric ward where they gave me Zyprexa, which didn't do anything to help the delusions or paranoia. Upon my 5th and last time there, I was given Risperidone to calm me down. Later they switched me back to Zyprexa. When I was released I saw a physician and inquired about Risperidone because it had helped so much before and was put on that.

Occasionally I still hallucinate (visual), but the voices and delusions seem to have disappeared almost completely. I still have a tinge of the paranoia but I don't consider it a detriment, more of a very practical view of the world.

I wrote this because I wanted to share some of my experiences and let those of you who are struggling know, that there is hope.

Hope this post finds you all well.
