Abilify, Zyprexa and lack of libido

Hi,

I would like to ask you if you could tell me if abilify and zyprexa can cause lack of libido. Has anyone experienced that ?

I cannot even jerk off and i am a worried about this "little" issue.

I'm on risperidone and it does cause loss of libido for me.

My doctor told me that these drugs can cause an increase in the level of a hormone called prolactin, which I understand is a female hormone, hence loss of libido in males. Apparently abilify is not supposed to cause such bad sexual side effects, but I've never been on it so I don't know

On the upside, life seems a lot saner without all this libido to drive you crazy! Maybe there will be better drugs at some stage in the future, which don't have these side effects.

I also know someone who experienced loss of libido on prozac, but that's anecdotal.

So you know of someone who experienced loss of libido on prozac, that's perfectly possible. The same happened to me taking the antidepressant Cipralex and I hope that now that I have changed to sertraline the libido comes back again. I am 31 and I don't want to waste the best years of my life without being with a woman and having success in sex

I was wrong about Abilify, it doesn't cause lack of libido and sexual desire. I had lack of libido because I was taking the antidepressant Lexapro (escitalopram). I found it out after switching over to Zoloft
