Wellbutrin, anxiety, depression

Postby Tritonc4 » Wed Jun 29, 2011 7:30 pm

Hey guys! Im new to the forums, nice to meet you. :D

I am diagnosed schizophrenia and have been taking meds for 3 years. I was having bad negative symptoms, depression, and wanted to quit smoking so I went from 150 Wellbutrin to 300. (also on large dose of Zoloft and antipsychotic). This has eliminated my negative symptoms, taken away the extra depression, and helping very much with the smoking. Want to stay at 300, but the problem is irritability and some anxiety. Xanex seems to help but does not completely take it away.

I dont want to lose all the good things that going up on wellbutrin (buproppion) has done, but
at the same time there is an anxiety and edginess that was not there. Went up from 150 to 300 four days ago. Could this be initial side effects? Thank you!! Any thoughts appreciated.

Howdy there, welcome to the forums!

I think you should ask that question in the following forums:
depression/
and/or
medication/

... just to get more responses. People here don't have much experience with antidepressants.

Anxiety and edginess can certainly be side effects. Maybe adding an anxiolytic to the mix might fix the problem. For example, buspirone. Antidepressants are anxiolytics by itself, but Bupropion isn't!

Cheers,
Mirage
