alternative treatments--life&death situation!

Postby tonya » Fri Jun 10, 2005 11:41 pm

My long-time boyfriedn (20 yrs) has been sick now for four years. He has not been officially diagnosed. His first trip to the doctor (at my urging) and they said he was paranoid. Then about six months later he tried to commit suicide when I didn't belive something he was telling me. He was observed for 72 hours and released. The dotor told me that since many of the things he was experiences were true, he was not sick just frustrated the noone believed him.
Here is the background in short. He had been working out a great deal and develop a rash on his inner thigh that the doctor said was a yeast problem. Instead of taking the prescribed solution a shot of seriods) he went online and found an over the counter drug combination that included lamisil tablets. He at the same time went on a severe protein diet to cleanse his system (two months of just protien). during this period he had lots of work stresses, we got involved in an anti-profiling case in L.A. that was class action and handled by the ACLU (so there were some police surveilence of us, since we were suing them), he also received a graphic death threat online (which he reported to the authorities), and he turned 40. During this period he also had a bout of singles.
He started to belive we were being watched (with was true to some extent because of the lawsuit). But he thought everywhere we went someone was following us or our car. When we won the lawsuit, we moved. Then he started to belive family and friends were turning on him for the goverment and that the person who issued the death threat was after us. His mother, uncle and grandmother all died with this period as well.
Now he is hearing voices, but claims something was done to him in the hospital and the goverment is torturing him with some sort fo device.
I can not get him to the doctor again. He wants to move far, far away from the U.S. and that only then will he be okay. He won't be.
If I am somehow able to convince him (any thoughts on how?), are there alternative treatments besides prescribed drugs. He has never been one from taking drugs of any kind. He has always terated himself with diet or some other alternative medicines.
P.S. His mother and uncle had paranoid problems, though my boyfirend denies thi, now, to be try. Just that they too were victims of some sort of harrassment.
I am trying to help him save his life.
ANY HELP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like a lot of stuff is going on, i'd be freaking out too...

you need to show him a site with symptoms of what you think he has (read up on a lot of things) and tell him that this is most likely what he has and that all of the stuff thats been happening has most likely made this come up and he HAS to take something or it wont go away

Sounds like he's having a lot of things going on with his body. I'd suggest getting a CBC (Complete Blood Count) and check to see if he has anemia. It sometimes can cause psychosis.
