Voices in your head.

Postby omola » Sat Mar 26, 2011 9:22 am

Dunno if this is the correct place to ask but, What exactly does it sound like to hear voices (internally). The reason I ask, is I don't really have a "voice" inside my head, that's distinguishable at least. Its more or less just words in my head. I experience racing thoughts almost 24/7 and I am beginning to doubt that they are my own thoughts, as i don't really have control of them. I have tried to control my thoughts, but they just seem to have a mind of their own (Which is why I am concerned)

Thanks for your time and please forgive the odd question :D

*I have not been diagnosed with schizophrenia, but i have depression/anxiety.*

well if you know its you and you arent telling yourself to do anything nuts then they are probably just thoughts. I would get voices calling me cuss words and thinking they were being said by other people in my head.repeating over and over again. also was getting suicidal voices when I know Im not suicidal. the voices say all types of outlandish things. sometimes they are so loud you cant even sleep well and rest the brain. also sounds start being like sentences. When id eat it would sound like a sentence. When the wind blew into my ear it sounded like a voice was talking to me. The voices can drive you nuts after awhile and start making you believe what they say. I ended up missing 5 days in a park thinking my whole family was dead waiting to die along with them. luckily a missing persons report was put out for me and the police found me.

Hello omola,

miamiu got this right. Voices drive you nuts, and you may get so angry at them that you'll do anything to stop them.

The key part of the voices is that any special sound can become a voice. It's called a delusion.

Also, some people thing that they don't hear their own thoughts. Just like you describe.

I would suggest to wait and see how it develops.

Cheers
