Poverty of thought

Postby ian » Mon Nov 22, 2010 7:23 pm

Hi, I'm new here- not sure if this is the correct place to post but I have been very concerned with my lack of ability to come up with spontaneous thoughts- often I feel empty headed.. I also suffer from social anxiety but this is a problem I get when not anxious either e.g just walking down the street, or sitting at home.. I wondered if it could be a symptom of negative schizophrenia but I have found this link, has anyone ever heard of this or has similar symptoms? I'll try and see a doc next week. Any comments from people with similar would be appreciated.

-Though I don't have the condition in the 2nd link where it talks about a delayed reaction to things, more just the lack of thoughts coming from within myself.. : /

Is it possible for your mind to express specificity? For you to look at a conversation and say quite precisely .. this is the case, this is the case, this is the case?

Hi Peter, many thanks for your reply. However I'm not quite sure what you mean? How can you be sure of the real meaning of a conversation between other people? Please clarify what you mean by 'specificity,' cheers.

Is there a test with answers for that?

Like, is there a written conversation a person could analyze, write the interpretation, and then compare that against the "answers" to determine the validity of the interpretation? Or is written too... "unrealistic"/static... and you need to analyze a real conversation in real time? Just wondering, because it seems like "real time" conversations are not a particular strong suit of mine.
