I say this - that if someone was sick with cancer, and they were contemplating alternatives like chemotherapy etc, in their darkest most unhappy moments, they might think or mentioned euthanasia. Well, they can try chemotherapy, they might die from their cancer, or they can have schizophrenia and be forced into suicide.
I try to explain to people what schizophrenia is like using this sort of analogy.

It's very unfortunate that people have to endure Schizophrenia. But luckily, there is medication for it. I haven't had a psychotic break in years, thanks to medication. I hope you are doing well.
