Dealing with voices

Postby voracious_lemon » Wed Aug 19, 2015 5:51 pm

Every time it gets really bad I end up on way too much of way too strong medication. Already on clozapine but things are escalating. A lot of time I don't know what's real and if I'm at work I can freak out from that. Get really paranoid too and lock myself in the room once I spent an entire week under my bed because I couldn't deal with reality and the "unreality" at the same time, so I shut the reality out so I knew everything was unreality. I really need to keep this job though so I can't do that. Advice?
All I saw was the Devil's soul
And it looked a helluva lot like my own

Take your medication, meditate, attend therapy and maybe avoid using drugs and alcohol. Also, tell your psychiatrist if you feel like your medications are too strong. One thing I do when I'm derealizing/depersonalizing (the terms for when you feel unreal, common in schizophrenic patients) is to pray, or I'd ask my family for help with reality-testing. Just ask for help, you'd be surprised at how many people in this world are understanding. If you really want to keep your job, tell your boss that you have a condition and what to do when you're in that state.
Diagnoses: schizophrenia, dissociation disorder NOS, Generalized anxiety disorder, selective mutism, psychogenic seizures and self injurious behavior.
Medications: Clozapine and Risperidone.
