Too much Abilify?

Postby Just_a_Zombie » Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:53 am

Hey there, I've been on Abilify (aripiprazole) for a while now. I'm on the highest recommended dose (30mg) daily, but I've been having non-stop anxiety.. both with physical and mental symptoms.

The Abilify is doing its job (mostly) regarding the psychotic symptoms but I'm afraid that it's the cause of my high-strung days and nights. Has anyone else experienced an increase of anxiety on this medication? Is it worth asking my doctor to switch to another one? I've been on ziprasidone, risperidone, and quetiapine all at different times, but they all had bad side effects. what else is there left to try? I'm already overweight, and I've known two people on Olanzepine that gained a tremendous amount of weight.. I don't think I want to try that one. But I feel like I've run into a dead-end.

Any help or insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Doesn't any medication carry both risks and benefits?; and have you researched what those are according to a Physician's Desk Reference?

abilify and latuda are two of the newest medications on the market.. in the US at least. I've heard they both are very effective with little side effects. Sometimes you have to combine medications to get the desired quality of life. Maybe discuss with your doctor about adding another or maybe an anti anxiety med. You listed a few medications but there are quite a few more you haven't listed. Keep trying to find the combination that works for you. This can take years. Keep your head up.

Hi there, I take 20mg of Abilify and 100 Mg of Sertraline. I do get my anxiety still but not as bad.
I am literately knocked for six when an attack comes on. I can't do anything but just lie down and ride it out. I listen to calming deep sleep music on YouTube and this does help me out tremendously. I hope you find a fix soon enough. tc

I'm on 30mg of abilify a day as well. I have to watch my weight on it by consuming a lot of powdered drinks (low calorie) and gum. I don't know if anxiety is a side effect. I know I get anxiety about thinking about becoming homeless someday, even though even if I do nothing that probably won't happen because I have two siblings.
