Latuda and side effects

Postby C-standard9 » Thu Sep 18, 2014 5:01 am

For the last week I have been working on a medication change. Im down to 1mg of risperdal and am starting 40mg latuda and added 50mg zoloft generic. I didnt think I was having any side effects, but Ive been much more depressed than usual and am thinking about cutting again (havent done it in about 8 years) I feel empty inside.

Could this be a side effect? I was depressed before this, hence the zoloft, but its gotten worse. I used to fake it and act like everything was perfectly fine, but thats getting a lot harder to do. Would this be better suited to a depression board?

They say 7-10 days for a pill to start working for you but i've experienced a waiting period of up to a few weeks. You might just be suffering from a lack of risperdal and waiting on the latuda to start helping. DON'T CUT. I have cut my legs, my back, and my arms and it makes me ashamed to wear anything revealing in the summertime because I feel everyone is judging my scars. They stay with you forever. Just remember that next time you feel like cutting. Sometimes when I feel like cutting i'll just press a sharp knife against my skin and pretend I did it. That usually satisfies my urge for a while. But mainly my kids are a big deterent for me to not cut. Find something that matters to you and focus on that in times that you want to cut and are depressed.

heres what you might want to do, order stablon its the opposite of an ssri and actually makes you happy like within the first time of taking it. the problem is tolerance only lasts 3 weeks to a month. it really gives you a nice boost where you can enjoy music and that sort of thing. its much more tolerable.

then switch to either celexa or lexapro. celexa and lexapro work differently than zoloft. zoloft is one of the most selective of neurotransmitters while lexapro is one of the most promiscious which means that not all of your serotonin receptors are being lifted with zoloft, where with celexa or lexapro more of your serotonin receptors would be lifted despite the lesser binding. you should try the tonality of both and see how you feel, lexapro is more tolerable but celexa is probably more efficacious for this situation.

as to the antipsychotic i know latuda has like 35% less sedation, but if you were decreasing your dosage on risperdal maybe you should consider that it got you to where you are in the first place and it can get you to .5mg given the right circumstances.
