Low doses of meds

I was wondering if anyone has any experence with maintenance doses of Medication. Soon my husband will begin to decrease the high dose of anti-psychotic medication he has been on for the last year. They say that he will probably always be on a low dose. Has anyone else had this happen? If so did it work out? Did the person stay relatively symptom free or did the delusions and other symptom come back as strong as before.

If anyone has any experence either personally or through a friend I would like to hear what happened, good or bad.
