I posted here a long time ago and got some great help so I wanted to post here about this question.
I find it so hard to open up to family members and new professionals about my issues and when I am having down days with my voice. Some days I really need someone to talk to or at least be in the same room with but I have such an antisocial issue that even going to my own family is hard.
Does anyone know what I can do besides bringing it up with the professionals, which I have to the one I trust. I just don't want it to get to the point again where I end up hurting myself because my voice is telling me to or something worse.
Thanks for the help
Chad

Hi ChadS,
If it's hard for you to ask for company outright, perhaps you could come up with a text message "code" that your family recognizes as a request for company and help--could be anything, as long as its something you and your family agree on as having this specific meaning. For example, you could just text SOS, and your family would know immediately that you're needing some company. That way you aren't having to explain to others about your needs every time the situation arises. You simply send out the text and whoever is available in your circle of family/friends can respond and either invite you over or come to your place (assuming you live alone?).
If you don't have a phone with text messaging, you could try email. Might this work at all? Or some variation of this idea?
Best to you,
Sylvie

Just remember as well, dealing with these issues doesn't make you weak. In fact, it means you are strong! Because you deal with it and defeat it time and again. Asking for company, asking for help, talking about your issues and feelings... these things take strength too. You can be proud to be who you are, because you are courageous and strong!
