Im A secret schiziod and function fairly well in public, but when I'm alone I listen to Depeche Mode, tears for fears and a-ha. Just because their music conveys a dark feeling; not necessarily depressing or sad. But they express in their song how primal and cold everything really is. I couldn't imagine a true schizoid not liking or relating to these bands. I especially love Depeche Modes "I want your body but have no interest in you yourself" theme. Very fulfilling since thats the way I feel about every girl I start a relationship with.

I can't really find many songs that fully encompass the schizoid person, but I can find strands of lyrics that do.

Radiohead - No Surprises

"I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide
And no alarms and no surprises"

The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

"I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour
But heaven knows I'm miserable now
'You've been in the house too long' she said
And I naturally fled"

The Smiths - I Keep Mine Hidden (This one reminds me more of Viinasu and other similar schizoids who have said they feel a normal range of emotions but consciously hide them from others.)

"Hate, love and war
Force emotions to the fore
But not for me, of course
Of course
I keep mine hidden

[...]

Yellow and green
A stumbling block
I'm a twenty-digit combination to unlock
With a past where to be 'touched'
Meant to be 'mental'"

i realize this hasn't been contributed to in awhile, but i was lurking and i wanted to add. music is a great escape from things...

pearl jam - indifference

"i will light the match this mornin', so i won't be alone
watch as she lies silent, for soon light will be gone
i will stand arms outstretched, pretend i'm free to roam
i will make my way, through, one more day in hell...
how much difference does it make
how much difference does it make...
i will hold the candle till it burns up my arm
i'll keep takin' punches until their will grows tired
i will stare the sun down until my eyes go blind
hey i won't change direction, and i won't change my mind
how much difference does it make
how much difference does it make..
how much difference...
i'll swallow poison, until i grow immune
i will scream my lungs out till it fills this room
how much difference
how much difference
how much difference does it make
how much difference does it make... "

i listen to this a lot when i'm pissed about having to work to live. ha. :|

fiona apple/frank sinatra - why try to change me now

"I sit and daydream
I've got daydreams galore
Cigarette ashes
There they go on the floor
Go away weekends
Leave my keys in the door
Why try to change me now

Why can't I be more conventional
People talk
People stare
So I try
But can't be
Cuz I can't see
My strange little world
Just go passing me by

So let people wonder
Let 'em laugh
Let 'em frown
You know I'll love you
Till the moon's upside down
Don't you remember
I was always your clown
Why try to change me now"

Each day I walk along this lonely street
Trying to find, find a future
New pair of shoes are on my feet
Cos' fashion is my only culture

Nothing ever change, oh no...
Nothing ever change

People say to me just be yourself
It makes no sense to follow fashion
How could I be anybody else
I don't try, I've got no reason

Nothing ever change, oh no...
Nothing ever change

I'm just living in a life without meaning
I walk and walk, do nothing
I'm just living in a life without feeling
I talk and talk, say nothing

Nothing ever change, oh no...
Nothing ever change

I walk along this same old lonely street
Still trying to find, find a reason
Policeman comes and smacks me in the teeth
I don't complain, it's not my function

Nothing ever change, oh no...
Nothing ever change

They're just living in a life without meaning
I walk and walk, do nothing
They're just playing in a life without thinking
They talk and talk, say nothing
I'm just living in a life without feeling
I walk and walk, I'm dreaming
I'm just living in a life without feeling
I talk and talk, say nothing
I'm just living in a life without meaning
I walk and walk, do nothing

What's the use of feeling betrayed?
What's the use of feeling at all?
I'm pacing the floor, I'm wearing it smooth
This is stupid, I think I'll go home

What's the use of moving uptown?
Fly to Rome on your credit card
An endless parade of lawyers and finance
Plenty of time with nothing to do

Give me new noise, give me new affection
Strange new toys from another world
I need to see more than just three dimension
Stranger than fiction faster than light

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this before. 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson.
