The "peculiar man" could very well be schizoid, but I don't think "I am a Rock" is written from a schizoid perspective. Clearly it's just a guy overreacting to the end of a love affair. Not really indicative of any particular PD or personality type.

Had the guy been schizoid in the first place he probably wouldn't have cared enough to turn his whole world upside down when the relationship ended, or write a mopey song about it. Nor would he have gotten so deeply involved with her in the first place that he would have ended up getting hurt so much.

Perhaps the guy in "I am a Rock" wishes to be schizoid. He is not stating what is, but what could be if he could cast off those pesky objects of attachment...

Trans Siberian Orchestra - What Is Eternal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRGwFUmhGfo

And here in the night as I feel the inferno
I stare in the dark thinking what is eternal
The man or the moment the act or the reason
These thoughts fill my head as I contemplate treason

Of dreams I have had and dreams I have pondered
When late in the night my mind it would wander
To things I have done and then quickly regretted
While denying vices my life had selected

And I think what I've done or have yet to begin
And the man I've become and the man that I've been
Now caught in a waltz with the eternal dancer
I'm courted by death but death isn't the answer I say

All I was meant to be
Could I suddenly just decide
Not a thought would survive
Could it be my life's worth
Ended there with my birth

If I could see someone who's been there before me
And traded his soul for a moment of glory
His penance or mercy by spirits debated
While judged on a scale that's been heavily weighted

And what have I done could there be such a sin
In this man I've become, in this man that I've been
Now calling to God from the pit's very bottom
I pray he forgives every sin I've forgotten this day

And who would've thought that my fate it would conjure
This twist in the road on which I have wandered
Each vision and dream now completely dismembered
To give one's whole life and find nothing's remembered

And what good is a life that leaves nothing behind
Not a thought or a dream that might echo in time
The years and the hours the seconds and minutes
And everything that my life has placed in it betrayed
Betrayed, betrayed

The things I have done the places I've been
The cost of my dreams the weight of my sins
And everything that I've gathered in life
Could it be lost, could it be lost in this
Could it be lost in this night

I like this song very much. And the rest of Beethoven's Last Night.

I really do love this song, probably my favorite out of the 3 OST's that have come out so far for this series. Especially the bit starting at 3:30.

I just love Joan Armatrading - Weakness in me. its actually about a woman torn between to lovers. To me its like the battle inside my head between knowin that i care about the person, but the need to be alone. its sad because to them they cant see any reason why i dont wana see them or 'answer the phone'. Sorry im really no good at explaining things.

Some of the lyrics-

"Why do u come here when you know ive got troubles enough, why do u call me when u know i cant answer the phone. You make me lie when i dont want to.."
"Feeling guilty, worried, waking from tormented sleep..."

Also Placebo i just love their sound, 'Special needs' even though i dont get the lyrics just love how it sounds.

Placebo - Where is my mind. ....Dont think that one needs any explaining

Ive read the posts in this thread and downloaded 'Switch - Thrive' ...i must say i dont think there could ever be a song that relates to us more than that one does x

I tend to listen to whole albums rather than songs, because the songs on albums often share the same or similar mood/viewpoint/principle/expressions. There usually is a certain coherence, which would be lost if I'd listen to only 1 song from each artist at a time. There are even albums which are better listened to as a whole than each song alone (Radiohead's OK Computer).
I also don't like music after 2001, with very few exceptions. It seems to be uninspired, badly mastered, boring, etc. last great albums for me would be Tool - Lateralus, Radiohead - Kid A, Underworld - Everything Everything, Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift your Skinny Fists like Antennas to Heaven, Anythony Rother - Popkiller, Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP.

One of my favourites at the moment are (apart from the above mentioned)
Tool - Aenima,
Nirvana - Bleach + In Utero,
Hendrix Experience - Are you Experienced,
U2 - Joshua Tree,
The Cure - Disintegration,
Neil Young - After the Gold Rush,
Coltrane - Love Supreme + My Fav. Things + Blue Train
The Doors - LA Woman + The Doors
The Clash - London Calling
Bowie - Station to Station + Low + Diamong Dogs (+Tour '74) + Scary Monsters, Super Creeps + Heroes + Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust + Nassau Concert '76
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
Pixies - Doolittle
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Vertigo OST
Rainbow - Rising (album cover is one of the best ever)
Gang Starr - Moment of Truth
Depeche Mode - Violator + 101
System of a Down - Toxicity
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Brian Eno - Another Green World
Pink Floyd - Wish you Were Here + Dark Side of the Moon + Animals + Meddle
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV + II + Houses of the Holy
Mozart - Best of
Beethoven - Best of
Wagner Best of
Haendel - Best Of
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley
Mingus - Time Out + Mingus Ah Um
Pearl Jam - Ten
C. Mayfield - Superfly
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Derrick May - Innovator
Metallica - Master of Puppets + Metallica
M. Davis - Kind of Blue + Around Midnight + Workin' with the M. Davis Quartet + Bitches Brew

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions + Songs in the Key of Life
Nas - Illmatic
Wire - Pink Flag
Television - Marquee Moon
Steely Dan - Aja
Crimson King - Court of the Crimson King (including the track "21st Century Schizoid Man") :o
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers + Exile on Main St. + Let it Bleed
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works '85-'92
Grover Washington - Mister Magic (especially the title song)
Run DMC - Raising Hell
Johnny Cash - At folsom Prison + A Hundred Highways
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magic
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers
Orbital - Brown Album (the songs could've been shorter)
Kate Bush - The Dreaming
Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground & Nico
The Smiths - Queen is Dead
Eric Clapton - Complete Clapton
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Deep Purple - Machine Head
Alan Wilder - Recoil Selected (for it's experimentation)
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
