Anyone have a fear they are being videotaped or recorded?

No, but that certainly would make life more interesting. I do have to admit whenever I move to a new place, I have this lingering fear that my neighbor is a peeping tom. This usually resolves once I get to know them better.

Not afraid, but cautious. It's not that I think people are watching me, I'm aware that someone might be watching me, be it on a video or tracking what I do so I always take precautions... just in case.
Example; if a car is behind me close to my home I'll take a detour until they're not behind me anymore, or the unnecessary amount of precautions I take to hide what I do on my computer despite it being my computer alone.

Hard not to be paranoid if you live in the US ofA these days.

Ive never been in a manic state, but I have a secret random fear of the same thing. I don't have a paranoia that someone is out to get me or that I am being spied on per say, but I do often think about IF I was being watched. When I was younger I would carry around tape and put it over little holes in the walls because I thought there may be a camera hidden.

I have always wondered where my fear came from. I had moved into a new apartment last year after moving out of a house and I had NO ONE in there for about 9 months and then I had the maintenance man in to fix my ac, and for the next 2 months I worried he had placed a camera in the vent....its a really illogical fear i know but i was so scared that for some reason, there was a camera hidden

Good thing I'm Australian... until we copy America, that is.

Typically I've been pretty lax with stuff like home PC protection except for trying to prevent getting viruses etc.

Aside from that, I may have had tendencies to think I was a bit to speshul in the past but my instincts have never let me down. I don't get bothered by overthinking security but if people start screwing you around, even if just for shits and giggles its another chore you have to add on to the various ways you already have to waste your time. Mischievous persons keylogging you or hacking your cam once or twice might be funny, doing it repeatedly and or over time can become a little uncomfortable for most people because privacy isn't about paranoia its about being able to relax and kick back instead of logging on the following morning to find people are taking the piss out of what you were doing the night before online, lol. Also there are some circumstances where people quite clearly do that kind of thing to try to mess with people's heads and drive them nuts, which isn't really a very good basis for getting on well...

Same. The other day I was on the bus and this girl sitting across from me had her phone out for the first time all year, and I got real squirmy even though it wasn't even facing at ME, but after a minute or two I moved my bangs out of my face and she laughed (at something on her PHONE) and I started sweating and said, "Excuse me? Could... could you please put your phone down?" And she just looked at me like I was crazy, so I moved to the front of the bus but realized there was a camera looking right down on me, and I kind of freaked out, and put my jacket over my head. I also go insane when my blinds are open at night (even when my stepmom says YOU DON'T NEED THEM CLOSED IT'S FINE GET OVER IT) so I end up sweating and hyperventilating with my head stuck under the covers.

The more I get stressed, the more I get paranoid, and being videotaped or recorded is one of my main ''themes''. It kinda sucks, in a world where everyone besides me is carrying around smartphones. I never feel like I can talk freely when there is a smartphone in the room, out of fear of being recorded. I also covered the web cam and microphone of my laptop for the same reasons. I try not to care too much about it though, if only to keep sane. When I feel bothered by it, I try to ask myself ''What if I'm actually being recorded now... would it really matter?'' for example. Mostly the answer is ''no''. That realization calms me down most of the time. But sometimes, I refrain from saying something out of fear of being recorded, often when it's something that actually could matter if it was recorded.
