They were the biggest womanizers the world has ever known. They raped, killed and took land from the Indians. Why can't we make 'easy' revisions to holiday's instead of introducing the meaningless 'President's Day'? Can anyone with a straight face equate George Washington to Jimmy Carter?

If we combined Thanksgiving and Christmas you could have a stuffed baby in place of the turkey with shepherds pie for dessert.

Brilliant. After all, Jesus did say, "eat my flesh" and "drink my blood" So I guess someone needs[gets?] to bleed the baby first.

To the Feds now watching this thread(thank you, Patriot Act!), I am only kidding. I'm a pacifist. Look at my web history from 2005-2006, and see for yourself.

Well, if I were emotionally prone, I would be jealous. So instead, I just think it would be fantastic to live in your house. Dibs when you die.

Well, Officialy it is my dad's house. If he dies it will probably go to his girlfriend. I wouldn't recommend buying this place anyway, unless your motivated to put the time, effort, and money into fixing it up. It was appraised to be worth around half a million dollars. Though, it would be a nice place to live alone. I live with 5 other people so the only room I can really appreciate is my bedroom.

That and the doorbell is broken so no one would know if anyone was out there anyway.

I was unaware there were houses built 300 years ago in the states.

The first white settlers, the Pilgrims, arrived in 1620 at Plymouth Rock.
So it is entirely possible that a house could be 300 years old. Built about 1707, this would be a historical treasure. Over the next 93 years a great deal of immigration and building occurred, mostly in New England.

The oldest city in America is St. Augustine, in Florida, established in 1565. The oldest house in the U.S. is there; parts of the house date back to 1610. (Thank you, Alex Trebek.) I have this fantasy about living in an old, interesting house, preferably with a storied past that makes other people avoid it. Something like the House of Usher but with a sturdy foundation, so it wouldn't end up in a tarn.

So I guess we're talking more like a 300 year old log cabin...or one of these:

I usually turn the lights off and avoid this 'holiday'. One year I found some crime scene tape and put it across my porch.

This year I gave in and bought some candy. Almond Joys so the little kids could choke on the nuts.

And I asked everyone over 5 feet tall how old they were...and if they were over 12, I told them I didn't have enough candy for kids over 12.

Wish I'd thought of that 'baby on board' thing.....it would have been easy to dummy up...with maybe one of those cabbage patch kids that I hated.
