Weird curiosity about people

Postby clomimorius » Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:35 pm

I'm wondering if anyone else here feels a kind of morbid / weird curiosity when talking to people, especially those with mental illnesses. (Just in case - i'm not here to look at repliers like they're animals in a zoo or something - i really do want to know if anyone here feels the same way about interaction)

It's like there's something captivating in some people, especially the ones that "stand out", but in an unhealthy (at least I perceive it as unhealthy) way - its more of a detached """analysis""" of the person's behaviour and beliefs than genuine social interaction. I don't care as much about the person as i do about how they function.

This stuff is like you're just watching something interesting under a microscope and adding the things you find to your "how people work" notes. It's really the only thing that makes me interested in having a conversation too - i can have 8-9 hour long conversations just because i think there's something to be discovered.

It's quite weird and i've talked to a bunch of people at this point but no one really seems to get what im talking about... which is why i'm here now.

Feel free to ask questions / request clarification.

No, I' can't say that I do. Whenever I am talking to another person, my primary focus is ending the conversation as quickly as possible.

Yes,I relate to this. I am someone who has always been drawn to psychology and the study of the human mind. I find that most neurotypical people are fairly easy to pattern read, transparent, and easy to categorize.

People who are blatantly not neurotypical are very interesting to me. I think that understanding how other people function, has been something that has helped me to feel more safe in the world, as I try to stay one step ahead when possible.

Studying the outliers... adds additional pieces to the puzzle, of humanity. I do want to understand what we are psychologically and how we compare and differ from one another, for educational purposes.

But usually from a distance.

yes, i have thought why so for most my life my best theory.
is its like some kind of self understanding it easy to draw conclusion by watching other then watching ur own.
no i enjoy all people but i do like people with some form of dysfunction more i think its like understanding how a game work under the hood because of a bug.

in fact that actually why the most known work was done on schizoid a guy was interested in how schizoid people develop in childhood and made more broader theory that touch even non schizoid.

unless am wrong about that but i think it called like object theory or something always thought about reading it but never did yet
