An introduction, odd enough

Postby Tiitii » Sat Sep 08, 2007 8:03 am

Most forums have introduction threads, even obligatory ones , and I sincerely despise them almost as much as I hate IRL introduction situations.

"Tell us a little bit about yourself", how intrusive!
You'll find out enough of the details later, right?

So, I'm Tiitii and I definitely belong here. No doubt whatsoever. I'm glad - or have some sort of a very positive feeling - that you guys exist. Just found out that my personality is classified as a mental disorder. No official diagnosis though, but I’m amazed to realize how completely all those seemingly insignificant details in my behaviour suddenly fit a certain profile - SPD. Kinda relief to know where I stand, on the other hand kinda irritating. Hard to feel individual as a textbook case, but I’ll get over it, naturally. Just make some adjustments inside my head as usual.

Well, enough of interaction? Gonna share more when I feel ready.

i find the term disorder quite distasteful. pedantic and presumptuous isn't it?

we just have our own niche, like all creatures of the realm. evolution really can do no wrong.

Evolution is like doctors. Both bury their mistakes.

I realize it would be possible to feel insulted about the medicalizing attitude towards schizoids. Dunno yet which viewpoint to choose.

Creating metaphors seems to be my favorite way of handling various abstractions and causalities between phenomena. I find myself facing a Pinocchio-like situation. I'm like a living doll made of wood. No actual problem there. But it would be an intriguing idea to consist of flesh an blood. Such lifeforms seem to experience a more satisfactory state of existing. If I can/could change, there would most probably be advantages. And, if I start feeling that something in my essence might need improvement, rejecting disordered status becomes a bit pointless.

Gotta do some further thinking and continue gathering information. I'm 43, felt like a mental misfit my whole life, but it never occured me there was a standard psychiatric diagnosis describing my personality so thoroughly. Gives some new perspective.

hewwo.

introductions don't seem to be too big here so i won't bother starting my own thread.

i am fufi, 30 yo BPD & bipolar sufferer(?) and Tiitii's girlfriend. I'm here to spy on her. No, seriously, she found these forums umm...yesterday, was it, and i thought i'd register as well and browse around a little.
