Do You Care About Anyone or Anything?

yes. i don't find myself a particularly uncaring person until i get stressed by the person. i don't really do well with certain favors (rides, money, etc) or emotional support (stressful). friends are also difficult because at one point or another, i will get stressed by the relationship and i'll just drop "friends". family is hard to shake though.

I care about consistency and authenticity. I'm not very consistent about authentically caring about anything else...

Every once in a while I find myself caring strongly about something (something abstract, not any physical item). Then it "switches off" as suddenly and mysteriously as it started. It may be a matter of hours or it may take some actual time, but that's what always happens eventually. So I learned to only put any effort into pursuits that are useful or enjoyable regardless of completion. And it definitely applies to any sort of relationship with people too.

Yes, but self-serving and short-lived. I'll have an opinion on anything and can argue quite elegantly on most subjects, but I can't really think of anything that I genuinely feel strongly about.

My wife says I love her as a verb, rather than an adjective. It's self-serving, so I do what she needs to be happy. She knows this, but the fact that I do it is more important than the reason behind it.

I care about my kids, but tend to see them as possessions to be protected.

My parents were good people. They went through a whole pile of crap with me as a child and they did what they could, bearing in mind that they didn't have me biologically. But, I ripped them off and stole from them, manipulated them and didn't grieve when they died.

When my mother died, my condition really hit home to my wife; she said that it was a defining moment in her understanding.

I was working about two hours away and, when she told me my mother was dying in the next few days (it wasn't expected up to that point), my first response was, "will she last until Friday, as I'm busy?"

I still went out that evening with a few of the guys from work and had no real concept of what my wife was going through at the hospital. I got drunk and phoned her when I got back to the hotel, telling her some of the stuff we'd been laughing about, as I thought it would cheer her up.

I got home on Friday and we went to the hospital, where I became the concerned and loving son, which switched off when everyone disappeared.

She still talks about it. I'm not quite sure how it affected her. She's explained it well, and I understand it, but it doesn't make much sense.

It's funny how I expect people to care about me though and then if they don't I do take offence.

I've done this all my life. I'm like: well I don't give a stuff about you but you better care for me or I'm gonna make your life a misery.

This is something of a puzzle to me.

Okay, you chose the wrong way, but the intention to cheer your wife up was nice.

MeToo. It might even be the norm.

I love being normal me.

Maybe i care a little about my ex-dog, one time i remember showing empathy for my friend when he broke from relationship, i didnt think i care but it happend.

When i get egoistical i can care about my time outside, it feels like a mission where i have to get home asap, when i'm in that 'caring' mood i honk relentlessly untill i get what i want i dont care about anyone when im sick of being outside, i honk for 20 secs straight

I care about this thread, I cared enough to post this.
