Do you get angry

Postby RyderX » Tue Aug 14, 2007 5:56 am

I read somewhere that people with SPD have troube expessing anger even when provoked. If someone insulted you in some way how would you react, would you just ignore the person and walk away or would you get angy and confront the person. Also, how much anger do you experiance in general.

As for me, if somebody insulted me I wouldn"t get angry to the point where I would show the anger, I would just insult the person back.

A person insulting me wouldn't be enough to get a rise out of me but I may stew on it a bit later on, depends.

I have been in situations where I should have got angry and felt something akin to frustration but I have trouble with actually being able to express it, knowing how to vent it and let it out.

One time when I wanted to use a pay phone and this chick got in there before me and was totally ignoring me and wouldn't get off the phone, she must have been on for over 1/2 an hour, rude cow and I went off a bit and hit the booth and what not but it was like I was acting the part, I felt like I had to do something.

I felt $#%^ for a few days afterwards. Anger really isn't me.

With people, if someone insults me I completely ignore it. If someone does something you would normally get mad at, I don't do anything or express any anger. I don't do confrontation, and I don't insult people back. I just walk off and try to forget about it. I do get angry though occassionally. On some things when I ignore it, I do forget about it, but there are other things that are irritating to me and I'll think about it later after it happens and get angry about it then... well it depends on what it was or the situation whether I just get irritated or actually get angry later on.

It's not just anger though, I have trouble with joy too. I don't know how to do joy.

Some music makes me feel like dancing and I do but there's no expression in my face. I feel like I should be smiling or something at the same time but I can't.

The only times where i express anger (or at least feel it), it's when somebody tries to stay in my appartment. For exemple i had a "friend" who had to stay one night at my home, he told me that he had to stay one night more, and i was really annoyed and i made him feel that. But i don't scream or things like that, never. Never had a fight either.

I feel angry sometimes but I don't express it well. Same with any other emotion, of which I have few and find to be difficult to label. I usually just have 'yay' or 'boo' feelings.

I don't get angry at all if I don't have to deal with other people.

I hardly ever get angry. I'm actually incredibly temperate. It would take much more than an insult to get me going...but I'm very rarely insulted...not that I would care if I was.

It would take some sort of repeated abuse over a long time to provoke a fit of anger from me.

I'm incredibly good at expressing my like or dislike through words, but not through emotional expressiveness. My face doesn't contort. I can't even yell. It's actually sort of pathetic not being able to yell.

I have experienced anger and i was a weird empowering experience. Suddenly having a desire to do something, if only it was to throw various objects about in impotent rage. It's rare though, very rare, and when insulted I usually just laugh if I can't come up with a retort. Unlike many here I do facial expressions, but they are very often at odds with what goes on inside.

Although I do get irritated with little annoyances from time to time, real anger is an emotion I hold in check. I do not like to give the person who has caused me to be angry the satisfaction of knowing he got my goat. Also I don't like to throw out words in a rage that cannot be taken back when calmer times return.
The angriest I ever got was 23 years ago when my partner died of this stupid ######6 skin cancer. I was so angry about that, its like I used up my anger battery charge in just a few years, and now even though I can still feel anger, it is muted.
I detest confrontation, but will stand up for myself. At times in my youth it was just a doggone good thing no guns were within reach, or I would have shot the fools.
Age has mellowed me, thankfully. Especially seeing as now I do have a household full of fire arms!
