Internet As A Coping Strategy

Postby CityMouse » Fri Jan 04, 2019 3:30 am

Sorry if I asked this before, but does anyone else use the Internet to cope? Is anyone else "addicted" to it?

It's keeping me afloat. It's distracting. Puts me in almost a flow state (though I think people are too over the top ambitious about that whole "flow" thing. Just heaping more expectations on people to live amazing lives). Makes me happy. I can't always do it, sometimes I suffer, sometimes I'm hit in the face with voices, paranoia, indolence again, but I try to do it a lot. Then it shuts my brain off.

I think it's also a good compromise because then I get paid to distract myself at work. I can work somewhere where I get to use the Internet all day. Hopefully not data entry, because YouTube isn't distracting enough. I think I want to be a proofreader.

It also replaced my other addicts like food, alcohol, coffee, even cigarettes.

So I guess that's the answer.
