Ooooooh ok. Sorry for the confusion. I was giving an example of how the bystander effect works not how I believe one should react. Many out there often see people in trouble don't do anything and expect another who's better for the job will jump in or it's too hard anyway. That's not my way of thinking at all.
As for the "they" I meant anyone who does think like that.
Now to find this weird compliment glitch in the forums matrix....

I'm reminded of the time a client was driving me home. We turned a corner and there on the street in front of us was a bicyclist who had just been hit by a car. The guy who was driving me pulled over, but didn't get out of the car. I sat there wondering if he expected me to jump out and do something, but my first concern was how my inaction might affect our business relationship.
Luckily, a swarm of people appeared and after a moment, we drove off.
I think that if you're the right person to "step in", you'll know it.
I know nothing of the compliment glitch but I can easily point you toward the insult generator.

"Were we supposed to do something?" I don't think we're supposed to do anything unless our intuition tells us to. The outside world may say that we "should" do something. But that means nothing unless WE want to do something.
A big part of dealing with the Disorder is learning to forget what the outside world wants...and remember what we want. We don't have to live by society's rules/expectations. We can reject society's norms/expectations without guilt.
Your one and only resident Schizoid (in most places).
