Same here. I hate having to pretend I'm someone I'm not at work (i.e., someone who is passionate about the job lol)
I always do my best at work. It's more or less something to keep me busy and not at home (where I'd probably be drinking 6 days a week if not for staying busy with work).

It was ok. You would just put on your headphones and go into your own little World.
Your one and only resident Schizoid (in most places).

Software dev has worked for me, but company culture is important. Across the street there's a company that's all buzzword buzzword mandatory social interaction let's have hundreds of meetings and lets make every bit of code about hubris and personal status. Whereas where I'm at now is a lot more "we have a task that needs to be done, how do we split up our work to get that task done" and as such it's a lot easier for me.
I don't have the experience to state it, but I imagine this is probably true for a lot of other jobs.

OMG that's awesome. How do you support yourself, if you don't mind my asking?

If in the US, I think a few mentioned they get SSDI. Due to being in the Air Force, I get Veteran disability. It's not enough to cover a family but it would be close to covering myself. If some have become financially independent, that would be cool. I think that is the dream of most people, just different reasons. My dream of being a recluse, lol.

Probably has to do more with the company than the person.
Some jobs are bad because of certain reasons (company "culture", just a job being crap) and you should get away from them. While I generally avoid judgments about people I think that not leaving a #######5 job tells quite a bit about you as a person.

I've decided to pursue a career as a proofreader. I have an English degree, so I enjoy reading, writing, and editing. It's the path of least resistance and the pay is decent. It's solitary work too. Plus I have some entry-level experience.
Full time or part time?

If you can do this at home, you've got it made.
