Is schizoid pd misunderstood genius syndrome?

That's pretty much what I wanted to say. Discuss as deemed fit.

I don't see it. Anything on the schizotypy spectrum may have a higher rate of thinking they are geniouses. I think the Autism spectrum has a higher chance of having actual geniuses.

We generally don't concern ourselves with what celebrities are wearing or which of our co-worker's vacation photos we like best, which, in this culture, probably counts as some sort of genius.

Nah. I think that if you're particularly smart and SPD/NPD/ASPD/AVPD/Autistic/etc people are naturally inclined to conflate the thing they sort of understand with the thing they don't understand. Also it's a fair point that the personality disorders are not diagnosed unless they actually meet the basic disorder requirement. So it's totally possible to be a happy successful genius with a bit of narcissism and introversion or whatever without having a disorder.

To clarify, a genius in my opinion is someone who thinks apart from the average societal norms allowing them to see unique perspectives and find unique solutions.

No it is not. A personality disorder is a difficulty that a man has with the world. If a man has this difficulty, then he will fall under one of the distinctions as Narcisstic, Schizotypal, or Avoidant. These moulds go by common works of men. In answer to certain things, most men will bear themselves in certain ways. For those of these ways that are diverse enough, the physicians have made these moulds. Yet they are only likenesses, and of any man that is highly wise, it may well be true that the physicians could not have foreseen his heart, being that they themselves may not be so wise. And it can also be said that wise men will not have difficulties in their dealings with most men, but that their fights are wilful, being righteous. And they would not seek the help of another man, nor do money for it. Whatever it is, the differences between men with personality disorders and not may be few. If a man is wise and likes the thought of Schizoid Personality Disorder, and its office in the world, then of two men with Schizoid Personality Disorder he may well be liker one than they with each other, though he has no malady himself. And thus wise men should be welcome here, if they like the thought of Schizoid Personality Disorder, but do not have a personality disorder themselves, and they often do in the world in the ways that those with the disorder do.

I appreciate this comment as I have been tested as a "genius" by current standards and I believe it causes many difficulties that schizoids go through. I don't quite relate with most people and it leads me to a lot of isolation and rumination. That's what lead me to my inquiry in fact. I researched the symptoms and related it to my struggles. I appreciate your post; and believe that because of it I may stick around this forum more. I do find schizoid pd fascinating and would love to delve deeper into your thought processes.

No. Idiots can be schizoids as well as geniuses. If anything is misunderstood it's likely to do with eccentric behavior. If a person runs into a schizoid who sounds smart it probably is due to the mulling over things. I would imagine a schizoid person is more likely think about things before saying them due to long bouts of isolation. I could be wrong though.

This reminds of a time when someone asked me how good of a driver I am and I replied that I use my turn signal.

Greetings from the NPD forum. It was clear from the moment I was born that I am a genius.

It would be if the geniuses who did city planning for most places in the south (where I unfortunately live) added in any means of easily getting to public transport or at least didn't have buildings ages away from each other.

I would say cycling is an option but there a no sidewalks or bicycle lanes either.
