Ironic Advantage To Being Schizoid

Those of us with severe cases of Schizoid Personality Disorder have an ironic advantage that others don't have. What is it? We have a great advantage when it comes to dating (of all things lol).

Yes....something that couldn't be further from the minds of those of us on the severe end of the spectrum. Yet...there is a great advantage to not caring about getting into dating relationships.

Yes...YOU could make some half-hearted attempts on those dating sites (or just out in public). It's pretty easy when you don't care about the outcomes of these attempts. I know....we may be cynical about the whole dating scene, but maybe you come across someone you can actually tolerate through this process. I know...I'm cynical about it myself. But, we do have an advantage here that others don't. It will take some "schizoid exhibitionism", of course.

Anyway, just shedding some light on this particular aspect for those of us on the severe end of the spectrum. This might be of interest...or maybe not (depending on your curiosity).

For anyone that uses reddit, there is a Schizoid Dating subreddit. There might be a better chance at finding someone similar. It was a joke at the time.

My way of dating was shadowing extroverted people. There would always be an extra girl around. In the end, my wife chose me during HS so I never gained any actual dating skills. At this point in life, I'd be the same way. I'd be somewhere and some girl would take pity of me.

My dating experiences are all from "schizoid exhibitionism". It was just me playing a part. But I've since come to realize I need to keep it a lot more real next time. I'm just going to be (basically) me next time....a living example of Schizoid Personality Disorder who is his own individual. But, of course, I haven't dated in years. Just don't have much interest in it (but I know I could be good at it).

I had no idea there was a Schizoid Dating subreddit. I really don't know if a bunch of Schizoids getting together would be a good idea. Maybe for some, but not for me. I'd like someone who is more normal and has an interest in Psychology. But hey, that's just me.

If I ever do get interest back in it again, it could be entertaining. It would be a time-killer. Certainly, it would involve some "schizoid exhibitionism", but yeah...I'd keep more real. I'm still pretty content at the moment though.

I guess I posted this topic because I don't believe that just because you are on the severe end of the Schizoid spectrum, it automatically means you are cursed to be single for life. I don't think that's accurate at all. People evolve over time in various ways.

For some, it was just the idea of having someone around but not having to be committed to each other. Most of us do just fine online but I guess just having that presence is nice.

Plus, I realize not everyone likes to "get off" on alcohol as I do (or alcohol with prescription pills...in the past, in my case). Some of us lead a clean lifestyle where sexual encounters seem more valued (if you are coming from that perspective, I can see why that would be).

I drink almost every day. Usually, it's only a couple before bed but I will start earlier on occasion and perhaps get a bit out of hand. Not many things better than day drinking. Recently, I found ZingZang Bloody Mary Mix so those are in the rotation now. I don't remember ever liking them before now.

Are sexual encounters valued? I see it as another option for getting off. As 50 cent would say, I'm in to having sex, not making love.

Lol...I see...interesting. I can't say I'm inspired to go out and pursue sex or dating, but this is one example of the Schizoid World.
