I am schizoid

Postby CopyCat27 » Sun Jul 08, 2018 11:39 am

I am schizoid. I don't like to talk to people. I just stay in my own bubble and talk about myself all the time. I'm a recluse and a hermit. But for some reason feel the need to talk to people about my private life and the little things I do in my small life. Narcissist much? See.. in England Schizoid is the diagnosis for narcissism as it is referred to in the USA. Mind blown yet?

Congratulations. I Am Iron Man.

Without doing any research, I would say narcissism in the schizoid is different than it is with NPD individuals. We get our supply from within, and it's not an overriding need. Maybe it's useful for sustaining our autonomy, or at least an illusion of autonomy.

But for some reason feel the need to talk to people about my private life and the little things I do in my small life.

I get this too. I don't know why. I don't think it's directly related to narcissism, if at all.

An eyeroll emoji usually does the trick.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be sarcastic. My sense of humor has no filter.

Let's start over. Hi. I'm naps.

for some reason feel the need to talk to people about my private life and the little things I do in my small life.

So why do you think this comes from narcissism? I suspect it might come from a need to release some of the pressure that isolation can cause. A way to acknowledge your existence. Kind of like: "If a schizoid screams out from the isolation of his lair, does he make a sound?" There could be a hair of narcissism involved here, but again, I think it operates differently than it does in other cases.

Lol

Hey man nice to meet you too.

The narcissism lies in the self absorption. Point.

There is no malady of "schizoid". It is no wonder the malady has diverse names from country to country. The important thing is that a man has a personality disorder. From there he will fall under a certain kind by the tokens of his malady. It is opinionable whether or not this is of any use. I think few of the sufferers understand even the fundamental terms of personality disorders and their reckoning into moulds. They use words as "schizoid", not understanding perchance that the more starkly a man bears himself after the way of Schizoid Personality Disorder, the more untaught and prognosticable his mind is. Nevertheless in theory many highly unlike men may have Schizoid
Personality Disorder. The civil bearings seen on Internet message boards among these men have little to do with notable minds, nor in faith do personality disorders. In faith a personality disorder is a misproving of a man to bloom in his condition in life. Generally this is cause his conception of prosperity is doing of the same things as other men, but remaining sundered from such; thus in many cases it may be supposed he is somewhat ugly or foolish. I do not feign myself to understand these men, for the reason that they, through a lack of this, forbar this. Nevertheless I think it can be likened to a fat woman who knows that thinness is lovelier than fatness, but who won't trouble
herself to lose weight, peradventure cause she thinks that this deed would not bring her more mirth than her state now. Both in the end may say they suffer from a thing, and that is good enough for them. It's somewhat empty play, psychology and personality disorders, but so is oversight of football.. and the players of that make millions of dollars a year.

People often seem to interpret "having a personality disorder" as "it's not their fault that they are the way they are", which is kinda sorta true, but is also a thoroughly unproductive way to look at it in the long run. I think the main thing to be taken from a diagnosis or realization of having a personality disorder is that "you actually cause a great deal of the problems that afflict you". Then, with that knowledge, you can either work to stop causing those problems or work to make those problems you cause stop being a problem.
Is this now?

Hence why I was being sarcastic in my OP. Work on your problems don't let them define you. I used to think I was schizoid and fair enough I have some of those traits. But they seem to be circumstantial. Hence don't judge yourself with a label lest you become that label for good ;)

Narcissism is not the same as being Schizoid. Narcissism involves lacking the ability to empathize with others to any great degree.

Everybody is egocentric, but most people can empathize with others fairly well. This ability is not very strong with Narcissism. If you observe a Narcissist, you will notice this. The Schizoid is more isolated (in his mind) due to being overwhelmed by the intensity of the empathy whereas...the Narcissist doesn't have much of an ability to "tap in" to the empathy. There's very much a "me first natural reflex".
Your one and only resident Schizoid (in most places).
