Do you do vacations?

Postby N1ghty » Mon Jun 18, 2018 8:39 am

I mean what do you do during vacations? I haven't been anywhere 5+ years. I just don't feel like doing it. I rather stay home doing whatever I feel like atm.

Same.i am just happy that i don't have to go to work.
But do you want to do something ideally?

Maybe if everything was already payed and organized with people you like .
But finding the right people and money and someone else to organize it seems difficult.
I used to go younger sometimes but i don't really want to that much anymore
The worst i ever went to was camping.i would never do that again NEVER.imagine being schizoid or avoidant and going camping the terror.too many people always too close.
I want comfort and some "luxury" lol

I do family vacations out of obligation and experience severe stress as a result. I literally count the minutes until it's over. Seems kind of bizarre that I waste my precious vacation time doing the very thing I hate most in life just so I won't upset my family.

I haven't done a vacation outside of home in at least 5 years. If I'm taking a vacation it shouldn't feel like work. I hate the thought of packing and planning a time table.

As a kid, not many. We would go to a lake with cabins in the woods so that was fairly tranquil.

As an adult, my vacations have centered around family, food, museums, capitals and wine/beer. The family is the wife's idea. The capitals are just an excuse to get out of state. The museums were mostly reciprocal from having local memberships. As for food and alcohol, what else would I do? Those are usually always evolving in some manner.

I do plan a ahead and have a spreadsheet with the locations, pertinent hours and other details. This also includes food along the way and hotels. If stuff doesn't go to plan, I don't really care. It just makes it less stressful since I don't have to remember all that crap. Lately, I have been much worse at it but the family expects me to plan something. Of course, they are also apprehensive about my 1 year unemployment anniversary.

The concept of vacations is very vague as it applies to me. I don't work much on average, but I have no weekends or holidays either. I'm not formally employed, so I work when there's work to be done. On the other hand, there's nothing keeping me from being anywhere else, as long as I have access to the internet for a couple hours a day.

Right now I don't feel any need to be anywhere else, so I'm staying here for the foreseeable future, all times of the year being roughly the same as any other time. There'll be a solar eclipse next year not too far away from here though, in a place with lots of natural sights to be seen, which has been in my list of interesting places for a while. So that's something I'm keeping in mind.

When I do go somewhere, I go by myself and spend as little money as possible on everything, and eat an even more basic diet than I normally do at home. Tuna, boiled eggs and granola. To me the purpose of going somewhere different is just that: going somewhere different and being there. And then I walk/cycle a lot and take pictures. I remember one moment once when I realized that I was probably the only person in at least a mile-wide circle (there was an old volcano to one side, and an ocean to the other side, and I was starting to suspect that I wasn't actually allowed to be where I was...). That was certainly a highlight.
Is this now?

No no car falls to me, and I would not use one even if it did.

I have decided to spend my vacation on the balcony... it's a perfect quiet place and it doesn't cost much.
