I'm pretty sure schizoids are self-interested by nature. Not out of malice.

Mine's more that I need to be dissociated from emotion than feel power and my own version idealistic control. At this point I'm more or less self-interested in being connected than my old need to disconnect to be in control.

To go with your Harry Potter analogy... I went from wanting to control with magic to understanding why Arthur Weasley was so fascinated by how muggles go on without magic.

Oh, that wasn't an analogy. It's an actual story. Pretty long too.

The first 30 chapters are more about discovering magic (and eventually the author gave up because you can't really do that) but after that it gets some pretty good action.

Amusing, but I'll probably not get to it. I don't know why, but the concept of fanfic tends to annoy me. Totally hypocritical when a good chunk of schizoids seem to have inner world themes featuring characters/worlds from pop culture.

While that could sound initially superficial, I think you might be subconsciously finding value in him as not only a buffer between you and the real world but someone who you value greatly, but not in as much of a manipulative way as it sounds.

Do a lot of people hear fear or resist change? When my first major relationship (5 years) was ending I fought it not because I loved the guy but because it was convenient. Predictable, pays half the bills, etc.. I looked at it more as a mutually beneficial arrangement than a relationship.

I originally read this as flatulate

Once again the cliche of "What is love?" gets to be asked in the forum. I don't believe anyone's gotten to an answer people have agreed upon other than brain chemicals.

I think it's mostly self-serving. And while nons might initially balk at that, I'll bet if they really thought about it they might find some truth to it.

Agreed. Even when I do things I consider nice for him without him knowing, one could say I do it to keep him in a good mood. Either way if love is or isn't, it doesn't bother me. We're there for one another when each needs us and seem to be better because of it.

The same could be said for me and my cat. Which goes to prove the point.
