This sounds more schizotypal than schizoid trait in my book... i had a friend like that in high... we were an unusual bunch back then. Schizoid, schizotypal and a narcissist...

No, I'm a Schizoid. When I say "rejecting much of what I come across in daily life", I mean rebelling against it.

Aren't schizoid usually compliant yet cynical? I don't really think of them as people who "rebel"

Not saying you aren't, (I differ from a few schizoid traits) but I wonder about what causes you to rebel against what you typically come across rather than hermit away/while hermiting.

Sorry, if I may be misunderstanding. Can you give an example?

I didn't mean to say you weren't but whole Zeitgeist clique in my book is under unusual beliefs. <I tend to rely and base my convictions on hard evidence not conjecture and overstretched speculations.

I'm pretty much cynic conformist myself. I do conform and I don't confront (even when I think otherwise), I realized I can't change the wrongs of the world long ago.

This reminds me of that Xfusion song: https://youtu.be/g15Qg636PUE?t=35m40s

All I have say is that if you research Schizoid Personality Disorder thoroughly enough, you'll find out the truth about it. My contrarian personality is what it is. I'm on the severe end of Schizoid Personality Disorder. Thankfully, I don't have any other problems on top of that. I'd really have my hands full then lol.

As for the Zeitgeist thing, the evidence is clear to me. It is on based on pure facts. The reality of day-to-day life.

Anyway, that's all I have to say on this topic.

Do you feel like you "have" to rebel? E.g. "impulsive non-conformity" which is part of schizotypy, or have you actually had deep thinking and arrived at views that as a result put you at odds with society.

Impulsive nonconformity: The disposition to unstable mood and behaviour particularly with regard to rules and social conventions.

I have one close friend, who I’ve known for 17 years. I don’t go out anymore, my friend and I used to go to pubs in our late teens, but these days if we see one another its for a quiet drink at home, normally once a month or so.

I don’t engage in any kind of socializing fantasy, though I have just joined this forum so I guess I’m now partaking in actual socializing for the first time in quite a while.

I communicate with others by necessity during the week (grad students). I don't really engage in conversation much though unless I have to. Most of the time I grunt a response or speak with a trailing off voice so that they get the impression that I'm really absorbed in doing something. I spend most weekends without communicating with other humans. My interactions with humans online are even limited or non-existent on weekends. I don't even post here on Saturdays and Sundays. I usually just play video games all weekend or play with my cats. I have a reputation at my work, and so people usually know enough not to ask my if I want to hang out. I used to force myself to go to those things, but I'm getting flakier as I age.

I have only one friend and we sometimes hang out every few months and catch up. She seems intrigued, and I am certain that she knows I'm schizoid. She's a med student and brought up SPD before when she was talking about her rotation in psych. I didn't fess up, but I don't think I needed to. Sometimes it feels good to be understood by someone. One of the reasons I'm here, I guess.

I have another friend I was really close to. I haven't talked with her in years though - ever since I moved to go to grad school. Falling out of contact with her actually does make me sad though. We used to tell each other everything.
