More so now that I'm no longer allowed to have foods that fuel my mania, I've lost a quite a bit of weight and wound up sleeping a bunch due to what's likely low blood sugar. The other day I ate a small breakfast then basically forgot to eat. My boyfriend asked what I had eaten near evening when I complained of being dizzy. I wasn't hungry either. I realized I hadn't had anything since 5 in the morning.
I may have to set an alarm or two...
What kind of food fuels mania?
High levels of caffeine, sugar, alcohol salt and fat are pretty known to make mania more likely to happen. I'm allergic to soy (which is in practically everything), and it's a fast trigger for my mania. Basically if I eat fast food I'm not allowed to operate heavy machinery till the next day (I haven't wrecked my car, but have gotten tickets for speeding after mania started for instance.) Since I am rather low on energy when I'm stable, I unfortunately have quite a bit of an addiction to getting manic high. I finally had to swap cards with my bf and have him carry my cash, so I couldn't buy food I shouldn't without him knowing. So far it's worked.
