Members explaining their need for stimuli is noted and interesting. Do you not enjoy it when everything is shut off? I don't often have background music or the tv on and, around dinner time, once I've finished reading or posting online, I'll just sit in quiet, dimly lit rooms and think, wander, imagine, or pay attention to my body, the clock, sounds I can hear coming from outside.
When I eat, my issue isn't lack of stimuli but staying here and not recessing into my head again. I try to stay present. Other noise just clutters me. That's not to say I don't ever eat without the laptop besides me because that'd be a lie but I do tend to make a point of enjoying the peace and a chance for thoughts that had probably been churning behind whatever was bombarding right in front of me to manifest properly.
I'm still a very inconsistent eater. 6pm and haven't had anything today yet. Perhaps you might wonder whether reducing eating to a nutritional need rather than an event would mean I do it more often but I find I'm even less conscientious of it in those circumstances where I can't have a little fun with some basil or garlic or when trying to figure out the best way to achieve a crispy texture, etc. The culinary 'artistry', so to speak, is all that really makes it enjoyable. Experimenting and experiencing a very small dose of trying to make something pleasing and then giving full attention to it.
Again, I use full attention loosely, because I'm not strict with my thoughts and have idle thinking time while at the table.
