Fictional Characters

Do you have a fictional character in which you identify yourself. Or even an historical figure towards which you feed admiration.

For me, I've always been fascinated by Marquis de Sade's life, even if he is very far from my behaviors and beliefs.

Definitely. I think I relate to fictional characters more than real people.

Self-identifying with fictional characters is what you do when you're young and trying to identify the existential you.
Admiring and emulating real people is different.

Maybe "relate to" would be better?

I was always impressed with Steve Buscemi's impersonation of me in "Ghost World", particularly at the 1:00 mark. I relate to his whole character in that movie.

I didn't even realize the original post said "identify", I just automatically thought of who I relate to.

I love Ghost World. The comic is great too.

When I was younger mybhero was William Blake. While I no longer think him a good role model I still am hugely appreciative of his talent and the way he stayed true to his beliefs. I think he was schizotypal. There are a lot of fictional characters I relate to.

Yes, I admit that I used the wrong words. I don't wanted to appear childish, the sense is the one who you've spotted.
