On the topic of threatening dispositions... I almost always see it as a reaction of cowardice. I also believe that "righteous anger" can exist, but that's more like someone stopping an assault, not someone starting one. Like that guy is in a threatening pose in that picture, but when I see that I very often think someone's really afraid you just made them look weak and their feelings are hurt. Maybe that's just me though, because that's the most common way I've gotten someone to want to attack me. I cut you with a few well targeted words, now you think hitting me will somehow make your failure go away.

On another note, vaguely related, I have a general doctor that I don't like at the moment because she seems to have very different expectations. I believe she's Chinese, and on occasion when we've had conversations about certain social topics she seems to really think her way is "the way" about things. My previous doctor (same building, she moved away, so I got this lady) was much more normative american, so we just had more common ground. I tried to change my doctors and they kinda pushed me back to my GP... now I think I'm just going to need to find a new office. She wants to save face and not "look bad", but a lot like my dentist that broke a mirror in my mouth and didn't notice... all my words are true and factual and all your descriptions of things are subjective interpretations and justifications for how you "feel" about this situation. Don't break a mirror in my mouth and then after that attempt to delete the feedback for your scorecard.

I think I'm going to go on a date with this person. They admitted they didn't just want to talk business, they want to get to know me. They are very attractive and interesting to me for a few reasons. I'm kind of excited. :D

Doesn't that fact make you feel in control?

I sure like the feeling when the righteous kind of anger goes through.

No, I'm a very perceptive person.

Overall, I'm better than the "normal people" in this, precisely because I'm a very perceptive person.

Which thing? I can see you meaning at least two different things, and from there two different types of control.

The intellectual kind of control, that he'd think that his failure would go away by hitting you. Though the real feeling of control would be if you'd hit him back though, and harder. I was thinking about the intellectual control when I asked, but also the righteous anger IF you'd strike back.
