Social media is more annoying than entertaining, but I'm too lazy and too addicted to quit.

If you're a solitary or reclusive person, then social media is something else entirely. It's the people with active social lives who spend their time glued to their devices that confound me.

I have facebook but only to talk with some few people, I never share anything. Some days ago I changed my profile pic and accidentaly set it to notify everyone... man, that was so weird to see those people liking my photo and doing generic comments about me... I just hate this type of exposure.

Anyway, I like being in places like this forum, where I can find people who I can relate and not feel an alien from a distant planet.

In the end of the day, social media is useful to coexist with people without necessarily ever having to really contact them. I'm not into cutting ties or just slowly disappearing unless there is a plausible reason for it because it's quite impossible for me to reconnect afterwards in case you need someone. I know it from experience because before social media, there were longish periods of time in my life when I stopped communicating with people who had become my social network (and more or less with my family as well, but I think that's because my mother died, she used to remind me of that). It was handy because I used to move from one town to another and so on, but then later there were times when I could have done some kind of support from someone who knew me. The problem was, it was overwhelming for me to contact them and when they called to me assuming that everything was alright, I went along with it.

I have FB, but I'm not friends with anyone I know in real life on there. I post nothing. I use it to log in to other sites and games and to join some forums that I'm interested in. I have nothing to post on it anyway. I think that not having a social media presence would probably be seen as a red flag by most girls though if that's important.

I have one thing to say concerning the facebook: Myspace. Nothing lasts forever, and the facebook is less than nothing. Is there anything you can do on that site that can't be accomplished elsewhere online? I wouldn't know. I've never been on it. But from what I can tell, it's just a big online water cooler. I think anyone with a busy, productive life would probably spend minimal or no time at all there. I have a friend who is very successful in his field and he has a roaring facebook page. Zillions of friends and followers or whateverthefuk you call people who press buttons when they see something bright and shiny that captures their attention and makes them laugh and clap their hands like a trained seal. He spends a lot of time there, and he hates it. You should hear the venomous stuff he says about all the randos who post on his page. But he has to keep that account active because it helps promote his work. That's the only reason he uses it.

I agree, but like I Said before, it is the narcissist playgrond. I bet you could do without facebook, instegram, etc, if your not destined for World domination. Each to their own, but I think that it a bombardement of useless info, and the fact that people are aware of the whole shallow mentality, makes it soo much more awfull.

But yes, for business it is a normal "excuse", people come up with, but seriously, i could not care less about People's buisnesses, or their kids etc. Junkmail is what it is. Nothing usefull, that it how I see it.

Wouw I am really bitter about facebook. I know a few fools in there with a few thousand followers, i guess that is the reason. Awfull place, really.

Could this be because your insecure about not getting enough friends?

I have a Twitter account I created to make it easier to follow certain people/groups to stay informed politically/culturally and also for pictures, somehow I've gotten followers despite tweeting nothing. Facebook I joined when it first became popular, I've never logged in but the one time when you register, I would create another one for promotional/business reasons, but I wouldn't become a part of it to do whatever people do on it.

I don't get FB, how do people talk on there and then meet up and talk? Whats they point in meeting up in person with friends just to socialize when they do the same thing on FB?

I had like 30 friends, but I was only folks I was friend with in real life.
I can not understand the point of 3000+ friends, because whenever people "like" something, they share it all over. That way photos of someone's children, dinner, political comments, or other meaningless crap, get in my face all day long. I is a bit like being spammed, and I don't see the point of being friend with someone if I don't subscribe to their updates. Hmmmn

I think the majority on FB is really lonely behind their screen. It is pretty sad to see.

At the moment we have a lot of focus on harasment on the social media here in my country.
But that is mostly towards kids and teenagers, but the texts they send to bully eachother are completly insane. Like they will tell you anything to make you sad and feel bad about yourself. I hope it will stop, but it is hardly going to happen. Poor kids

It is called "hatestorm", and mostly is done by sms, as far as I can understand. It is meant for mental terrorism. Wtf is up with that.

Someone, follow one of those little assh013s and break their phone, or something. Make a law against idiots. Anything, but this hatestorm trend.

Or send the text to my mother instead, she would not mind, stone cold, if anybody can handle it, it is her. We are talking bulletproof, no strings attached type of person. Just dump them there. That would work.
