Yes. I got my license asap when I was 16. I like going for drives at night when there aren't any cars out, or when it snows because everyone stays home.

No. I'm 50 & never learned. My dad & brothers tried to teach me even though I had no desire to do it. Of course, watching them drive was a major reason I had no desire to. They'd act like they were invincible & engage in road rage. It seems to me that people get a false sense of security, when in fact it really puts them in greater danger--kind of like owning a gun, something else I don't do.

I initially got my learner's when I turned 16, but unfortunately, neither of my parents were interested in teaching me how to drive, and I wasn't determined enough to really go after it, or rich enough to shell out 40 bucks every time I wanted someone to take me out for an hour.

Also, I found that people were really disparaging, including the in car instructor from the driving school. So, for many, many years, I thought that I was a bad driver until my job necessitated I get my license. So I sucked it up and went to driver's training...again. And got a decent in car instructor. And now I drive, all the time. It's not as scary if you have to do it daily. It is very freeing as well. As a schizoid, it was one of the harder things I've had to do in my life.

Technically. I passed my driving test and got my license. That I choose not to at all is a different matter. I live in a city that's full of drivers who don't understand the first thing about driving regulations, so they do whatever the hell they want. I'm not going to put my life on the hands of those people. Nevermind the fact that alcoholism is rather rampant here too, so DUI is common too. When you have had to put up with your direct family being drastically affected after a driving accident that wasn't their fault because of a drunk driver, or heard of relatives who were on minor car accidents, or once even watched live as a bus that crashed near your home and got turned over, and the people making it out through the windows were bleeding, you develop a fear for driving. Not my thing.

I didn't pass my driving test until I was 50. I didn't like the idea before that for two main reasons:
1. I was wary of the responsibility (pedestrians rarely kill people when they bump into them).
2. It seemed too 'masculine' an activity for me.
But when I passed my test (it was when my then wife had our first child and I was persuaded that it was necessary) I surprised myself by quite liking it. I often volunteered to give people lifts to the airport, etc.
However, I've never regarded myself as a good driver. I prefer to say I was lucky (which is, of course, a lot better than being unlucky.)
I don't have a car now, and I do not foresee being able to afford one in the future.

Driven for over 10 years, but not the last 2 as keeping a car is too expensive here in Finland. No problems driving though. Someone said my driving is immaculate.

I can drive, and I believe I do it pretty well. Also not a fan of long distances, because they make me really sleepy and my eyes stop focussing. I had a car until 2 years ago when I got my own place. Sold it mostly because I wasn't sure if I would fincially be able to keep owning a car. Since most things are within 10 km's from my home, I decided to get an electric bike instead. It's pretty nice, though on days where my avolition is bad (which is nearly every day) it's really hard to go outside in bad weather, and bike 30 minutes to work. Still, I don't miss having a car.

I am not really afraid of driving while I am driving, though I sometimes get worried a day before I know I will be driving. As others have mentioned, I am fairly confident in my own driving abilities; not so much of the other people on the road.

I can drive, was especially forced to when I was about 15 by my grandfather. If it weren't for him I never would have. I also have extreme anxiety and it was an absolutely nightmare. Now as much as I have panic and anxiety, I also have spells where space out and... probably shouldn't be driving. But have no choice in the matter thus I do anyhow.
