Just out of curiosity, since most schizoids don't seek therapy and therefore are less likely to be formally diagnosed.

I'm self diagnosed, and I'm sure. I read this page:
http://www.toad.net/~arcturus/dd/schizoid.htm#2
And every single part of that fits me like a glove. Then I came here and for the first time ever I could instantly relate to nearly every post I read.
I found it pretty much by accident. Taking a "for fun" survey about which level of Hell you'd be going to. At the bottom it linked to a personality disorder test. I took it and scored very high for SPD.

mainly self diagnosed. my Tdoc and Pdoc have said there are "elements of my personaity that are disordered" and both realise that connection is a huge issue for me because i just don't do it.
i've done some pottering online and reaised that of all the PDs schizoid fits me well. although i think i have one or two aspects of others too (eg OCPD).
but no one has put money where mouths are and tried to firm this up.

Self Diagnosed. I just learned last night that i was a schizoid. I always thought there was something different (not wrong) about me. I was trying to find out for months and by chance came across the term "schizoid" on wikipedia.org. After reading the entry everything just sorta fell into place for me. I almost feel enlightened, like i know who i am now and that there are others just like me.
None of this will matter in 250 million years.

Self - diagnosed and not really sure of anything too but if the people here are schizoid then i am one too.
And i found it from wikipedia also. I read a lot about random stuff and psychology related topics are kinda interesting for me. I was probably trying to find out why i am so different though, so it wasnt that random.

Also self-diagnosed...but I'm pretty confident. Everything fit perfectly - it wasn't even close. The experience was almost surreal, like someone had seen inside my head before they wrote the description.
I've been to both a psychologist and a psychiatrist before, but in both cases it was for social anxiety. Which would have been fine - it seems most schizoids don't learn about it until some other, more immediate problem surfaces (since SPD isn't really a problem in and of itself) - but I never felt comfortable talking about my schizoid behaviors (and not really sure I could either...as I can't really communicate in real-time). So that was a complete waste of money, at least for me. The only reason I found out about SPD at all was by posting on forums online where I could finally express my thoughts clearly. Eventually someone directed me to wikipedia's description of SPD. And from there I had to learn more.
