Free time....

Postby rainbird » Wed Dec 06, 2006 9:56 pm

I noticed there is already a thread on reading and I had started one on boredom and got some very interesting answers on that one....

Now one thing about all of us here is that we all want to be alone a lot....

What I want to do now is see what we all like doing in our free time with our solitary activities.....

I love to read and I write poems and I am current writing a thriller that is on hold because of my coursework....I love gardening in the summertime and photography......

I also like to do crafts sometimes....I want to learn how to do graphic arts and digital scrapbooking........

How about you........

I compose music. I write songs. Or write stories. I play video games. I watch movies.

I love going to the park and just sitting at a bench, watching the trees, or observing what others are doing. Climbing trees at the park is fun too. (the ones that are climbable.)

Driving in the car by myself, playing my music is fun.

Then, there is this thing I do.... I take a cmall object ( half of a crayon most of the trime) and I throw it up against the wall, and in my head, I watch my own stories...like... I am making it up as I go along. Its very fun and amusing. :-D I can't really explain it...

Solitary Activities

Postby mountainman » Thu Dec 07, 2006 1:34 am

I love to go hiking in the mountains far away from everyone else and into the more favorable company of nature. While I am there, I practice nature photography.

I am an avid reader, and I am always reading a philosophy, religion, or social science book. This is boring to most other people, but exciting for me.

I am a musician. I play the drumset in my band of one. I listen to music.

I am a philosopher. I think. I muse. I philosophize.

I am a Christian. I seek God through solitude and contemplation.

This is what occupies my free time, which I try to maximize as much as possible.

i just had a ramble about things i like doing in another thread. oops.

i have uni which takes some of my time, it's a part time course but the work itself takes longer. i've just finished an essay and have another 2 to do, plus 2 presentations. one of each for the end of term (10 days away) and one each for next term. then once those are done, it'll be the same again. hurrah

i read a fair bit, although in term time i stick to magazines (the new statesman and such) because of all the uni reading. my course is politics/philosophy/history, so reading politics magazines is quite important for that.

i would say most of my time apart from that is spent in front of the telly. i recently got sky plus which is a godsend because there are so many shows i just have random interest in. usually documentaries are what interest me and i watch a lot of those, but some dramas (dr who/torchwood, medium, dead like me - i seem to like the ones that delve into supernatural stuff) and obviously i watch eastenders religiously

i also like to drive places on my own and listen to music or the radio.

i love travelling, seeing the world, but only alone. i'm in a position where i'm able to go abroad a fair bit, and often to places that are far flung. i don't have a particular favourite kind of place, i like cities, beaches, whatever - anywhere i can either sit with a book and a coffee and zone out or just wander about on my own are fine really.

i'm a big fan of "pottering" and i like to potter about. even on my travels i spend a lot of time in foreign places pottering.

Sleep, I love to sleep. I can sleep for 20h straight and still sleep some more.

Play with my rat and my cat, craft stuff, think of more craft ideas, read, cook, go for walks, listen to music, watch TV (or more appropriately listen because I mostly have it on while doing something else).

Count me in on the slumber brigade.

Sleep is the most brilliant invention ever.

Now what is pottering...I am in the states so I don't know.....

I also love TV but I can't watch it lately since I have been "sick" lately......
