Interesting.

I detest planning and always do things at short notice. In fact I would say I have an inability to plan at all - I am very indecisive, and my life is suffering accordingly. My future is a blank slate.

BUT I identify more with being ISTP, even though online tests have thrown back ISTJ at me.

Hmm I find that weird.
Im a hardcore ISTJ myself and the very thing that defines ISTJ is their great sence of organization/administration and planning.
Must be something wrong with your test results...

On
the eve of the battle of Waterloo, Lord Uxbridge, commanding the
cavalry, went to the Duke of Wellington in order to learn what
his plans and calculations were for the morrow, because, as he
explained, he might suddenly find himself Commander-in-chief and
would be unable to frame new plans in a critical moment. The
Duke listened quietly and then said: "Who will attack the first
tomorrow -- I or Bonaparte?" "Bonaparte," replied Lord Uxbridge.
"Well," continued the Duke, "Bonaparte has not given me any idea
of his projects; and as my plans will depend upon his, how can
you expect me to tell you what mine are?

plans are 4 morons.

Yeah but your hardcore.

If I look at the breakdown results I'm always very low on the JUDGEMENTAL side of things - under 15.

It's when I look at careers that I know I'm a perceiver. An accountant or a fireman? I have the ability to be an accountant and could be classified as bookish but I would much prefer and get more satisfaction out of being a fireman.[/quote]

skip the questions
i think its better to just look at the J vs. P descriptions and see what suits you best since questions can be misinterpreted

i'm a list person too, and an intP
Without the to-do-lists, i wouldnt get anything done since im always procrastinating, wasting time and moving deadlines (attention deficit issue of mine)

hate spontaneous activities to, always feels like they're forced upon me and always ruining (what would have been) a quiet afternoon

I'm a list person, as well.

And I cannot stand being spontaneous. If I'm not expecting a call or expecting someone over then I don't answer the phone/door when it goes. If I'm going somewhere I need to know when I'm arriving and when I'm leaving and I hate not having my own car. I can't ride with someone else because I don't feel in control--if they decide to stay longer than agreed then I have no recourse.

I always figured that was part of SPD, since it shares many symptoms with AS, and lists and routines are very important to people with AS.

I was diagnosed with adhd. Initially you wouldn't think that it is very fitting for a person who needs to be alone to have concentration issues, because of the preference for solitary activities. Otoh, I suppose the distress from wanting to be alone when everything is put into a social context might have an effect a person's ability to concentrate. Do you think that this is the case with you, regardless of how subjective the diagnosis of adhd may be?

yes, i think they do interact.
Being around people all day is tiring, making it harder to focus.
(after a lot of socialising, the extroverts are all charged up again, but my battery's drained)
the opposite goes as well: when my head hurts, after a day of trying to concentrate, i crave for solitude.

btw, i'm not diagnosed with ad(h)d yet, but that will probably change soon (got an appointment next week)

My understanding is that the diagnosis of adhd is rather subjective in any case. Nevertheless, I believe that my lack of focus can be attributed to my anxiety that stems from wanting to be alone.
