Had one of those for a class today. (online personal presentation).
I look at the description: Write a personal description of yourself.
/me think: The honest or the shallow, grey-scale aka "normal" version?
I quickly glance at what the others have written:
"My name is X, I live here in Y, but im originally from Z. I did work some at P back in school, and after school I had a job as a Q.
My interests are: A, B, C, D and E.
On my free time I like to do M and N, and some V from time to time."
And so it goes on and on and on... And everybodys presentations are all the same... Greyscaled and perfectly fit to what the grey mass thinks is "normal".
So I think to myself: What the ###$ do they wanna hear about anyway? Do they actually want that X and Y crap? Because it bores the $#%^ out of me. Maybe I should write a unique and honest presentation, where I tell them that Im a cold-hearted bastard without any compassion/care for the world around me... that Im a cynical, misanthropical and anti-social schizoid ISTJ who just wants to be ######6 alone? Is that what they want to hear? Of course not. The average Joe doesn't understand even half of those words:
misanthropical? anti-social? schizoid? ISTJ?
(I always find myself usingwords and definitions that "normal" people just don't know about. Hell, not even the average shrink knows wtf Schizoid means)
In the end I think to myself: It's not worth it... and I start writing on one of those dull and grey "Hi my name is X"-presentations. Because as a schizoid, I do prefer to be honest, but I think it's more important not to "stick out".
