Correcting a cop on standard procedure.

*Friend is driving*
Deputy: *walks over to driver's window* Sir, Do you realize I pulled you over for going 75 in 55 mph zone?
*awkward pause while he shines flashlight in our eyes*
Me: Don't forget to ask him for his license and registration, sir.
Deputy: Excuse me?!
Friend: What the f%#k is wrong with you! Shut up!

I just sat there dumbfounded. Had no idea why everyone suddenly had a stick up their ass.

That is...that is gold. This is the kinda stuff I started this thread to hear.

In 3rd grade I found a blue pencil that didn't belong to me on my desk and I started coloring my desk with it.
When the teacher noticd this she got mad at me and I couldn't care less (don't know why).
I had to clean all the desk then.

I neither know why the heck I did that, I just felt the impulse and did it.
I realized it had been very dumb in the very second I finished coloring the desk.

You've been brainwashed! Some1 left the pencil crayon on your desk on purpose and then mind controlled you and told you to do it. FREAKEEEEEEEEEYYYY!

Also, not double checking to see if I locked my dorm room door before masturbating :|

Being emotionally open to a person that outwardly seemed empathic. Made a proper fool of myself. Oh well, live and learn.

I wonder why they feel the need to be outwardly empathetic if they're not. Its not like there's anything forcing anyone to be outwardly empathetic, even if they're not people may still be friendly to them.

Oh! Talking to cops! Never fun.

Cop pulls me over. My plates are four months overdue. I know they are past, but I'm actually not aware that this is the reason he has pulled me over.

This is during some BBQ festival in my town. I have no idea. He's fishing for drugs or drunk drivers.

Officer asks me if I'm high, stoned, inebriated, medicated, etc. I say no. I explain that I've never had a drink in my life (true at that point). He asks what's that while flashing his light on some sparkling mineral water cans I have in the passenger seat.

I laugh at him a bit sometimes because I find his statements funny. At one point he starts flashing his light in my eyes directly and I just stare him down through it. He says, "Why are your eyes watery then?" (a vague reference to me being stoned). I don't flinch and tell him, "Well my eyes are like 80% water."

There were some other exchanges like that. He misidentified my car type. Thought I was in from out of town. Wanted to know where I worked. Etc. Etc. It was 30+ minutes sitting in a parking lot.

Then I left with a ticket for expired plates.

Another random authority person type-story...

I was in a hotel this year. There was a convention going on. I did not have a reservation for that night, only the following night. This seemed fine to me, as I was well rested, showered, organized, and planned to stay up through the night playing games on my own in the hotel lobby till I went into the convention proper. I didn't factor that this was somehow "against the rules."

The hotel night manager made accusations that I was someone that had come to the hotel, tried to get a "hook up" for the night, failed, and was hanging around. I seriously asked him, "Do I look like that kind of person?"

It kinda clicked in his head after a couple more minutes and verifying that I did in-fact have a reservation the following night. He told me, "No falling asleep." I said alright, and then played video games till it was time to play more video games. Checked into my room at 4 PM, showered, and gamed again till 2 or 3 AM.

The 80% water thing is awesomely funny, and I've done that sorta thing before. When people ask what I think of their dress and I answer truthfully, they then ask why I would go and do a crazy thing like that, and I tell them it's because they asked.

Also, that is probably my ideal hotel experience right there and I hope to do that one day.

To naively believe that anything I did in the vain attempt to better a life, whether myself or another's, ever actually made a difference in the grand scheme of things.

Ahh. Maybe the next step is to forget about the grand scheme of things in the massive sense and ask which schemes of things you can have some effect on - from individuals through to today's society.

Doesn't it also free you up to think about what you want for yourself and follow that without so much concern for the giant picture... ?
