Why do you swing between emotions? So we don´t love each other, we hate each other; where is the difference? These are both strong emotional attachments.
Emotional indifference is what I expected here.

Platypus wrote:Is it hypocritical to express disdain for one of your own characteristics, or to preach solitude whilst huddled together? Maybe solitude doesn't require an absolute commitment, just as you can side with peace yet still argue with a sibling.

And whilst there may be an element of denial here, that again is not unique to this forum. Denial is common to a lot of (all?) personality disorders, and to the population at large.

Thank you. What if solitude is part of the denial? What if being apart from ones emotions is part of the denial? What does remain if we strip all that away what people say but don´t do?

EmpathySucks wrote: Why do people even give a sh1t about this?

Great example. Is EmpathySucks really interested in the motivation of other users? I seriously doubt that. In my opinion its cheap propaganda to get a majority vote against this topic so he and his clique can self-satisfied turn their backs on this frightening, inconvenient subject. It´s just not enough to go away all alone; he wants his clique in cadence.

EtherialStarlight, your first statement involved the word “troll thread” and some interrogation marks. What changed your mind to answer the initial post to such extent? Was it completely out of boredom?

shailene wrote:I find people tend to argue and gang up on people who come across as arrogant or pseudo-intellectual, just for the sake of it, which I feel might be what's happening here (the main issue with the original post was the style it was written in, not the actual questions, right?). I didn't think that would be much of an issue on this forum, but maybe I was wrong?

Yes, it´s about emotions, not actual questions, in a schizoid forum, with people ganging up. I´m in a loss for words … “grotesque” might be what I´m looking for. I can´t wrap my mind about this being the foundation for discussions.

And to maybe rekindle the intelligence-question. Kant describes the basis for insight as perception which is filtered by emotion. If the filter were removed wouldn’t perception be less colored and consequently be more accurate?
Assumed you´re not one of the “schizoids” ridden by emotion.

That's a moot point though, because sentience cannot exist without emotions. Or at least I don't think it can?

I don't see how people are ganging up. Personally, I express my opinion and I typically don't care if others agree. If they disagree, I may try to explain my idea better, so that they may understand what I am saying more clearly. If I believe the other person was correct all along, and I was in the wrong, I admit my error. If someone states an idea similar to what I was thinking, I may add onto their post. If someone asks a question, I may answer it. If someone is irritating me, I will not hesitate to show that, and I do admit that I do get irritated sometimes. I have some emotions, even if I usually don't feel like I do. They have a tendency to not be very strong. Just because a lot of people disagree with someone, does not mean there is ganging up, though it is a possibility. It could mean that they are wrong, that they are arrogant, or that they are not conveying their message clearly. I do not see ganging up here. I see ineffective communication, arrogance, and false 'facts'. I do not think Jadeite is an idiot, but he is definitely not as intelligent as he seems to believe he is, and he needs to learn the difference between stereotypes and facts. Yes, there is usually a reason for stereotypes, but that doesn't mean they are always true.

Dalloway wrote:If the filter were removed wouldn’t perception be less colored and consequently be more accurate?

Yes, in most cases. However, if the topic is the actual filter (emotions in this case), then you will have a much more inaccurate picture.

Okay, maybe it's not un-empathy.
I don’t have a full-blown PD.
That doesn't mean I have the opposite of a full-blown PD, if you get my drift.

I would disagree with calling this behavior "ganging up," Dalloway. That would imply a social motivation or mechanism which I do not see here. Just because a lot of people here disagree with Jadeite does not necessarily mean that they are conspiring against him.

What did you think of my earlier reply?
