How would you react if someone told you they liked you?

I think this is as sensible a situation as most, when something like 'I like you' or even 'I love you' is said.

One might think affection is about the desired object, when in my opinion it is about the one desiring.
It's about her, not about you; well, maybe not entirely, but it's safe to say the ratio is not what you expect it to be.

And this is why I would say 'thank you', without thinking much of it.

This seems like a reasonable way of handling said situation.

In my case actually I do have an appreciation...admiration..gratitude, etc., directed at specific people. It seems selfish not to let them know, in a way. In those cases I don't expect anything back.

I have had guys tell me they love me. I usually tell them I don't share the same feelings. This usually leads to them becoming emotionally distraught and pushes me away farther. This is how most of my relationships with people end.
