How would you react if someone told you they liked you?

There are very different answers to the OP.
Myself, if someone told me they liked me, I would

A. wonder what they “mean”
2. wonder if they meant it
iii. wonder if they had an ulterior motive!
d. be flattered even if it wasn’t true
%. be nice to them, definitely not say anything to hurt their feelings,
but also have another ‘bout 2 inches of scared-wire barrier go up.
wish it were true, wish they even loved me, and wish I loved them,
and wished we could live in paradise together forever with all my other 0 lovers.

I would not react in any way. It would not affect me. I would continue about my business.

At work a girl I had never met before asked if I would sit down to talk to her after I got out because she thought I was cute. I told her I had homework Then again she wasn't very attractive. I imagine I would have had a better reaction if she was hot OR I wouldn't have known what to say and humiliate myself

Oh goodness. That happened to me once...actually a couple times. It's so uncomfortable because you just know what their expectations are -- that intimacy that I just can't give, and then, you know, the disappointment on their end and honestly I just feel so badly about it all, because that probably takes some courage in the first place.

I think, "No, you go find a nice girl who can return your feelings. Stay away from me. I am bad news."

I'd be like hey, that's great, thanks... until they got up in my face while their boyfriend was in the other room and tried to kiss me, then I'd be backing away in a state of near fear...

Romantically? Have an internal freak out, probably in the spur of the moment say 'thanks' or 'oh, cool', there'd be an awkward parting, later, I'd regain my composure and tell them I'm not interested in a relationship with anyone at the moment and she (or he?) caught me by surprise, then keep away from people for a week or two because that satisfied my need for human contact for the year.

If it really was a friend, then it wouldn't bother me in the least. I'm not friends with people who scare me. And if they're going to be disappointed in the (near or distant) future, then it's their own business. It's their decision. It's not my place to bear any responsibility for it.
