What are your sleeping habits

Postby under ice » Mon Nov 19, 2012 7:57 pm

What are you sleeping habits? Night owl or early bird? Is your sleeping cycle natural, or have you changed it because you like to stay up at night, like I've done?
Have you ever experienced insomnia or other sleep disorders and why do you think that was? Did you do anything about it?
How many hours of sleep a night is enough for you?

I wake up usually very early in the morning no matter what, and therefore my learned habit of staying up late isn't wise. I've been severely sleep-deprived before, but now I've learned to go to bed a little earlier on weekdays. I think the reason for getting too little sleep was initially training too late in the evening, but I don't do that anymore.

Ever since I was just a kid I've suffered from bouts of insomnia, especially in summer time when it's not very dark here even at night. I don't have it so much anymore.
I've never needed much sleep. Six hours is enough. It would be nice to be able to sleep like other people, ten or twelve hours on weekends.
Sleep seems like waste of time mostly, although I'm not busy in my freetime. I don't like taking naps because they make me more tired.

Some days I've got training until 10pm, so I don't get to bed until mightnight. Others I'm up super-early. I try to sleep between 11pm and 6am when I have the choice. Not much of a night owl, very much an early-bird.

Sleep at 2 AM. Wake up at 9. It usually decays over time to 3 AM to 10 AM. Then I have to reset it.

Same, but I never have anything to do. Except when my parents drink, then I am up a while. Usually to bed by 11 though. I have insomnia so I fall asleep like an hour and a half sometimes 2 hours after I lay down.

For the last 1,2 years (ever since I was done with the army) I sleep at 4 am usually, no matter if I have to get up early or not. On the lucky days 2 am. On the rest ones 6 am the earliest, or not at all and rest some hours at noon. If I don't have to get up early, I'll rise from bed at about 2 or 3 pm, but I'm not sure how sooner I wake up, as I usually lay there half asleep for hours.

I can function well enough with 3-4 hours of sleep, but i'll pass out easily if i stop moving. I have a little trouble getting up (it's a family trait), so I'm ok only if I spent 10+x hours resting.

And no, I don't think I have sleeping problems, it's just that my schedule is all messed up.

Fall asleep 3am+.

Get up at 8am weekdays, and 2pm+ on days off. I can't find the motivation to get up early on days off even though I should be studying.

Last year when I had to wake up at 5:30 for work, I used to go to sleep by 9 at the absolute latest. Currently, I get up for school at 7. I usually go to sleep around 10-11 and I don't have issues sleeping. I plan it so I always have enough sleep. I have other health problems (possibly hypothyroidism) and DP, which both contribute to my dizziness and confusion/ disorientation so I need to get as much sleep as possible to try to combat that.

Currently, the earliest i wake up is 11am. And on those nights i go to bed anywhere from 2 am to 4 am.
If i dont HAVE to wake up for anything the next day, i stay up anywhere from 3 to 6 am and wake up anywhere from 2 to 4 pm.
i try to get at least 7 hours of sleep if i have somewhere to go the next day.
i hate going to sleep but i also hate waking up.
