Really Complicated

Postby Bpman » Tue Sep 11, 2018 2:14 am

About a year ago I was diagnosed with schizoaffective bipolar type. Looking back there were so many signs, so many, but I chose to ignore particularly when I had long periods of mania that kept me running nonstop. Not sure about any of you but I crashed to get my diagnosis. I was admitted to the psych ward for four days and it was then that the doctors began to point out my symptoms that “normal” people don’t have. Like who knew normal people didn’t talk to the television or see shadows of people in their homes. For me it was just life.

Fast forward a year and I am on quite the concoction of medications (see below). My psych tells me I am complicated so I joined this forum to evaluate this for myself. This is my goal now - where in the spectrum of schizoaffective bipolar type do I fit in. And are there other diagnoses that fit my profile that I should be aware of. I would love to hear how complicated you are as well.

Risperdal - limits hypersexuality (medication is critical for me)
Depakote - mood stablizer
Prozac - limits OCD
Abilify - antipsychotic
Thorazine - antipsychotic, sleeping med
Adderral - controls ADHD symptoms
Adivan - stabilizes Severe OCD situations

Now that feels good. I was able to document my story for the world to see and it will become part of the permanent record of the forum. My psychologist actually assigned this to me. She wants me to interact with more people who are dealing with the same illnesses I am. I hope this to be a positive experience.

Welcome to the forums!

I've been living with my diagnosis for twenty years now, and they finally got me on the right cocktail of medications recently, though sometimes my voices persist despite any attempt to medicate them.

I can't give you any advice about medications, as everyone has a different need or experience with them, but if you ever want to compare notes about your experiences I'm pretty sure there are lots of folks here willing to share with you.

It's been pretty slow here for the past couple of months I've noticed but I wanted to chime in seeing as how I log in almost every day and didn't want your post to go without a response.

Once again, welcome.
